Please be respectful and let people travel wherever they want.

You're acting like the "people who don't wear masks are selfish" yet they attack (physically) those who don't. I thought they were supposed to keep their "social" distancing.

Sigh. What has become of "free" countries.

PhilipMarc I have never attacked anyone for not wearing a mask due to hidden disabilities and I know some that take the mick with them sunflower bands. But why would you risk going anywhere and put your loved ones at risk knowing you could d have killed them by being selfish going away. It's not hard to just stay put.

Ann1984 we have to learn how to live now with this virus as it will not dissappear. If your parents is elderly them maybe its not worth, but if you are 20 years old student who is living here and your mum/dad are 40 years old and living abroad.

I don't think I'd want to travel abroad for Christmas or new year, regardless of what might be going on in the world. The thing is that I love the traditions we have where I am, I would miss having the foods that I'm used to and would want the people around me whom I love. Very open to traveling and seeing new places at other times of the year, just not on Christmas and new year when the focus is so much on tradition and family.

NatalyKroxa. You're so right. Sorry, I misread the question. I have family abroad and the thing is that my family abroad would not want me to visit for Christmas or new year with all the trouble around the pandemic. They would feel angry with me for taking the risk of going through airports, for example. The closest we'll come to a visit is exchanging newsy Christmas cards and hanging out together online when the year turns over. It's a shame that we can't safely visit this year but it's just safer to stay home at the moment. Maybe next year ...

I suppose it depends what the travel restrictions will be around Christmas time NatalyKroxa. The U.K. may have a full lockdown by then. Many people must be hoping to be able to travel home to loved ones for ChristmaS. I hope things improve by then.

Not planning on going abroad at all at the moment but don't have any family abroad anyway. I can see how difficult it may be for many especially at Christmas and New Year that have family abroad , I suppose they will just need to make a safe informed decsion based on the circumstances at the time .

Staying home this year as we all live close. I can always travel in the U.K or abroad at a safer time.

We were planning on spending Xmas in Spain this year (just me and the hubby) but I can't see us being able to do so. We can't predict what'll happen in a week these days so I wouldn't want to plan it for it to end up cancelled (we'd be driving down but still could lose accommodation etc)

My family all in this country and being in tier 3 probably won't even see them. No way I would consider a holiday here or abroad for foreseeable future

I don't have family abroad but I wouldn't be visiting them this year. Can always visit later a safer date.
