Trick or Treat Welcome or Sorry, Not This Year?

Ask a Question

I don't know about where you live but every year, I get a little box ready of sweeties and pop a pumpkin on the lawn and nobody calls. Is it the same with you or are you inudated with scary callers?

We live on a housing estate a d there are lots of kids about but no one ever comes to the door. I always get some sweets anyway just incase but it will be my husband dealing with them this year if they come as I will be putting our son to bed.

We live in quite a remote area so we rarely get anyone knocking. Plus the weather was not so great either. We generally do not celebrate Halloween. Great if you have kids, but it has has all gone so crazy. Used to be small kids knocking for sweets or pennies. Now depending on where you are in the country, it can get quite aggressive. Sorry, but I am personally not a fan. Boo hoo!!!!

Ceebers we had our neighbours sons call round and then someone came to the door at 8 but I was putting our son to bed and husband was in the shower so no idea who it was. This was the first year we have had anyone at the door. I don't like halloween either, we have already decided our son will not be going out guising.

Round here they only call if you've left a pumpkin or decorated the outside of your house. I found out after buying loads of sweets and no one called πŸ˜‚ Our last house was a nightmare, every 2 minutes they were knocking and a lot of older teenagers.

If there were other people in the house with me I would happily treat callers. But to be honest I am a little nervous of opening the door to strangers after dark.

I agree. Let’s face it some might be aggressive if you don’t give them money. I don’t think going knocking on doors in the evening should be encouraged.

Mine are too old (or too young) for trick or treating - we leave sweets out and a pumpkin at the end of the drive but we didn't get any last year. I think it's because we live in a relatively quiet cul-de-sac; very few young families.

Omg that is disgusting. What sort of parents have raised a child to be that rude. Mind you, nothing surprises me these days, they probably told him/her to do it!

I just popped in the shop and got a couple bags of sweets in case the kids come knocking. They didn't come last year so I'm guessing my husband will enjoy them instead πŸ˜‚

When we lived 'down south' on an estate we knew all the children that would call and we (I mean me) dressed up and handed out sweets etc. Now that we have moved north to a more remote area we don't get any callers, but then, we don't even have any street lights! 🐞

When I lived at home with my mom and dad we lived on a farm and there was only two children at the age to go trick or treating that lived on the farm, so my mom would fill a party bag for the two of them and that would be the only knock on the door lol.
