UK Banking Sector Exports Reach New Record High of £36 Billion in 2018
In the News
The UK banking sector’s exports of financial services reached a new record high of £36 billion in 2018, up £1.7 billion on the previous year, figures published today by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) have revealed.
Total financial services exports, including banking, also reached a record high of £62.5 billion in 2018, up £3.1 billion on the previous year. This means the banking sector accounted for 58 per cent of the UK’s total financial services exports in 2018.
Let’s hope the banking sectors stay in London after Brexit. At least they might not expand their Hong Kong offices at the moment.
Might provide high paid jobs but just not enough of them. We need to be manufacturing again and expanding our farming industries. It's great to have a strong financial centre and need to keep pushing for growth but its the other areas of our economy that need improvement most. It's horrible what is happening with the NHS, Police etc, services are worsening.
