Unilever Increasing Their Prices by 12.5 %

In the News

This will effect most people as it includes food and household goods such as Omo, Sunlight and Comfort and cleaning product Cif, dove soap etc and affecting foods such as Ben & Jerry's, Magnum, Cornetto and Wall's, while Knorr, Hellmann's, Horlicks and Maille are up just over 11.00 %

Not only this, but they are reducing these products in size , so a double whammy

And the reason for the increase, they say because less people have been buying their products !!

So do they think this is going to encourage them to buy more now ?

Or do they think because they have the monopoly on the market we have no choice ?

If there's no reason for it other than company greed I don't think it will go down well with consumers. Other than Ben and Jerry's and Hellmans mayo, which I only buy when on offer, I will just use cheaper alternatives for everything else.

Are they really that stupid that they can't see people aren't buying because of the rising cost of living.

Most of the things you mentioned are luxury items, no one needs comfort or dove soap, there are cheaper alternatives and supermarket own brands are fine if people really want to cut the grocery bill. All those ice creams are either unnecessary or again, cheaper alternatives are available. In fact they are often tastier.

Everything is going up in price so it won’t come as a shock to anyone, it’s not just Unilever.

Pjran True P, but the reason they gave for putting up the prices is a bit strange

I can bet my last pound that the shareholders are rubbing their hands with glee.

The only product I buy from them I think is the occasional tub of walls ice cream as their 1.8l tubs are great value, its very nice ice vanilla cream. Also recently there has been a caramel, chocolate and vanilla neopolitan style ice cream on offer at farmfoods at £2 which was very good. It's the only unilever product that I feel is good value, for most of their stuff there is much cheaper alternatives many of which are just as good or sometimes better.
