What Do You Keep in Your Fridge That May Seem Unusual?

Ask a Question

We are buying a new fridge as ours isn't as cold since power cut. This got me thinking about all the things I store in my fridge that you don't really need to. For example tin of corned beef. In supermarkets it's on cupboard, I do this because its easier to cut when cold. Do you do similar or am I bit weird?

When I was a carer I was told you should never store tins in a fridge maybe something to do with the moisture from fridge on the tin I'm unsure

Imnotcheap I never put tinned goods in the fridge, even unopened

They will last just as long in the cupboard if sealed

I thought it was to do with rust so i did a search and found these articles

You should not try storing open metal cans in the refrigerator, because the iron and the tin can seep into the foods and taint the flavour and in some cases cause negative health effects. Keeping open cans in the fridge is especially dangerous if the food is quite acidic, such as fruits and tomatoes.Nov 28, 2018

Why does canned food not need to be refrigerated?

All microorganisms in the food are now dead, and so cannot feast on the sugars or other nutrients, multiply, and cause spoilage. Because the can is sealed, no new living microorganisms can get in. This is how canned foods can sit at room temperature for over a year and not spoil

I looked on Google after previous comment it said its pointless unless you want to make content cold but does no harm

I think it's cause it can cause the tin to react to the food if put in fridge

Never been a fan of putting chocolate in the fridge.

Maybe because at my age, one slight mis-bite and it's an expensive trip to the dentist.

It's not something that I do but I know people that put their make up in the fridge when it's hot so that it doesn't melt.

Imnotcheap lipstick is definitely a make up item to put in the fridge to stop it melting. You can put it in the fridge after it's melted too

MrsCraig I always feel I want to warm up mascara as it always seems too thick and stodgy. I often put it on radiator when heating is on if I remember before I am ready to use!

It has been so long since I have worn makeup, 5 years. I used to add a drop of contact lens solution to my mascara. Back when I wore contact lenses anyway.

I've deffo put face masks in the freezer especially if they are from Lush, so much better cooling my skin than not putting in the fridge

I always pop my eggs in the fridge but their not from the fridge when you buy them so why is there usually a little egg holder with the fridge!

I do too. Our British eggs don't need to be kept in fridge as we treat them nicely American ones do so that's probably the reason.

They out of way and less likely to be broken in fridge

I get accused of too many cans of tonic water in the fridge taking up unnecessary space. I don’t like ice cubes in drinks so prefer chilled.

I keep condiments in the fridge. I know it's not necessary but I just prefer too. Same with eggs. I also keep most fruit & veg in fridge, I find they keep longer. Especially peppers, courgettes & such

I always keep tins of corn beef in the fridge. Makes it so much easier to slice when it's cold. I always have superglue in the fridge as well as it stops it from clogging up.

I have lots of different animals in my friend and a mini woolly hat. The small animals are toys that bleed in the fridge but when you warm them up the blood disappears. The woolly hat came from a drink and never left the fridge. Also got a cow that used to moo every time you opened the door. It does not moo anymore but still lives in the fridge.
