They Used to Say a Photograph Doesn't Lie - You Can't Say That Now
In the News
I knew that people could Photoshop photos and put filters on but was shocked to read about a website which allows people to undress photos in minutes - producing digitally generated nude images.
I wasn't aware of this, until I read this headline MP wants AI 'nudifying' tool banned. Hopefully she is successful.
I hadn't heard of this before either, but it all sounds a bit creepy.
Even though the nude picture wouldn't be real, people could still post it/share it somewhere online
The article said that some of the Olympic athletes have been victims of this, it's appalling
That saying was never really true. Manipulation of images started shortly after the first photographs were taken. The Cottingley Fairies is a famous example...
A ban wouldn't really work unless it was applied globally. It would be easy for UK citizens who want the software to circumnavigate any restrictions by using a VPN. The UK government failed in their attempt to introduce an age verification system for adult content. They may not want to go further than expressing outrage, as implementing a ban would be easier said than done.
I understand that we live in a global world and the are new game changing technologies being launched every day. I was just shocked as I had never even heard of this, it must be so terrible for the victims of this app.
