The collection was estimated to have an auction hammer price of nearly £10.8m by valuation experts at Rare Whisky 101 (RW101)
I will never understand it. I love whisky but usually to drink, not to have on display, even though it looks good
The problem with ridiculously expensive whisky is that it ceases to be a tasty drink and simply becomes an object. What is the point of leaving it in a barrel for 20-50 years to get a refined complex drink if most buyers are only going to add it to their collection or get it for investment purposes
I agree. I mean I suppose there’s a chance someone will drink it some day. Won’t they be disappointed if they were to find out that the aged whisky just tasted like dirt water...replaced hastily by a former owner of the bottle
My mother loves a good whisky. The only expensive bottle of whisky she has kept is one that we gave her for her birthday, which was inscribed with a message from our son. She drank the whisky from it though!
