Warm Home Discount Scheme

Money Saving

With rising energy prices, it's worth checking if you are eligible for this scheme as they have now expanded the energy bill discount scheme. The rebate was frozen at £140 for nearly a decade, but this winter it has increased to £150 and will be discounted automatically from bills.

Some pensioners and people on a low income receiving certain benefits are eligible for the discount.

But charities say some 500,000 households face missing out.

Good that these schemes exist £150 off People’s bills would be welcome . Much better than paying it into bank accounts and it looks to be automatic without an application being required.

Howmuch I think if you or someone you know is eligible it's worth just checking that you/ are not overlooked, as we all know that sometimes automatically goes wrong 🙂

beccatavender You would think with everything computer based that it would work well. At least a lot of people will not miss out that have not know about it or have not applied for any reason.

Howmuch With the cost of living crisis I know people while on benefits but have previously never claimed anything, so may not be in the system, you don't know what back log DWP have and how joined up their systems are with energy companies. I would double check. I may just being cynical 🙂

I would add as well if you have received it in the past there is a pretty big difference which is normally every year you have to apply for it but this year it will be automatically paid without contacting them .
