I’m 15 and really want to earn money and become more independent before covid-19 I made a cv and tried to apply for jobs but had no luck! I now feel even more stuck on what to do? I really do want to gain experience and earn money? Any ideas on what I can do to earn money and gain experience would really help thank you!
Assuming you are living with your parents or someone who feeds, clothes and houses you the best thing you can do is study hard and make something of your life.
Here is a story: My granddaughter left school around 16 and spent a year or two aimlessly wandering between jobs, waitressing, working in a theme park etc.
She then gave herself a good talking to, applied for a university in London and commuted whilst studying English and creative writing. She got her degree a 1:1 with honours and then began her Masters which she got 2 years later with a distinction. She now teaches kids your age at the second best school in our area but is going to study for her PhD whilst working as she wants to be a university lecturer. Her speciality is Dickens and Shakespeare.
Take my advice kid, worry about earning when you have to, not before. Now is the time to learn, not earn, and a CV will not have much on it at 15. I know you won't pay any heed to this but take my word, I have 50 more years of experience than you.
Ann1984 can see where you are coming from but social distancing might be a problem and I would need to know a 15 year old was literate and numerate before anything else. They could do more harm than good if their own education is lacking.
I am not sure if there is much any 15 year old can do in the current situation, although I would definitely pay one to clean my car. She can't get a proper job at weekend as ( I could be wrong) you can't legally work until 16. Also may need a CRB to work around other kids, again, not sure of the age on that one.
Lynibis thank you that’s great advice and a great story I completely agree I am currently at a grammar school and am in top set maths and so do further maths too I’m hoping to take biology chemistry maths and further maths at a level and go on to university to study neuroscience or accounting! I just spend 100% of my time in my bedroom studying and wanted an outlet for me to gain experience and earn money to save at once!
RiannonWood that is wonderful to hear and with that attitude I am sure you will go far, you sound a very sensible girl and I hope your parents are proud. I take my hat off to you as the subjects you are studying are amongst the hardest. My personal favourites are English and History. Thank you very much and I love english and history too I currently still study both with Latin and french too however I lean more towards sciences and maths?! Well, if you have games you can trade them in at CeX, but if it's PS3/360 and the likes them they'll have very low value.
Aside that, maybe you could try an agency.
My advise would be focus on your studies 100%, get the best grades possible, look into the career you would like to know.
Watch and practice interviews on Youtube. Practice means perfect.

Try to find a job where you will be kept busy (the time will fly), and where you will do a variety of tasks. Make a big effort to learn all you can about how the business works, and how it makes a profit. For example, stacking shelves in Sainsbury's won't teach you much. Working in a garden centre where you can ask lots of questions might.
Jobs you might want to avoid are small shop jobs where you are standing around waiting for customers to come though the door - they can be very dull.
If you intend to leave school/college before 18, what you do for your first real job is really important.
Don't just take any job because it exists and it's offered to you, get the best job at the best company you can find that values its employees, and get your career off to a flying start. Remember you choose them as an employer, just as much as they choose you as an employee. So make the right choice.
Doing a bit of work now at 15 will certainly help you decide what kind of job you want later.

Will definitely look into it and that’s very true and yes I think it is a lot better to get a more meaningful job and one that will keep me learning and one i will enjoy as I will be doing the work as something to do other than studying as I want to go on to six form and university. Because travelling far might be difficult for you at 15, try typing your postcode into Google and selecting 'Maps'. It'll then show you nearby businesses. You never know, a great company you never knew about could be just around the corner!
Most companies won't take you on if you're under 16, have you considered doing something like Avon? I did that when I wanted a job but was under 16. Other ideas: dog walking, babysitting, buying and selling things on ebay, washing cars
