What Are Some Delicious Alternatives To Eating Marmite On Toast?

Ask a Question

I absolutely love marmite, I have it on toast and in sandwiches and also just dip cheese into it but that is where it ends. Please can you help me with other ways I can consume it?

Mmmmm, I am neither a lover or hater of marmite and occasionally have it on toast, very good for you.

I am sure you have already tried combining your two likes above in a cheese and marmite toastie?

I coated pumpkin seeds with marmite slightly loosened with water and then air fried, made a nice snack.

I’ve seen recipes for marmite and cheese scones but not tried that.

I usually add a bit of marmite to spag bol, chilli or stews etc to get a hit of umami.

dawarwick Not sure what nom nom is but sounds good. I do prefer a cream and jam scone but never thought to add marmite to a cheese scone, thanks for that.

It's good with cheese on toast too, I love it. I eat it out the jar with a spoon 😅

You can use it as a stock. In spaghetti dishes. Spread over meat, vegetables very lightly as a marinade before roasting.

jojochinaski Good idea but I am not really a chip fan, especially when they are done in the open. I do like croutons so that may work.

telmel Wow, that’s a very long recipe. I can not eat Kale for medical reasons and never heard of a couple of items on the list but thanks for sharing

I put a teaspoon of marmite on a currant bun, on top or I grilled a sliced currant bun, and add margarine and marmite.

jwhitaker537 My husband hates marmite but for revenge once I added it to the top of a chocolate cornetto and put it back it in the freezer. He ate it a few days later and didn’t even realise it had marmite on it.

I would put some bread in the toaster get my plate knife and butter out. Open the marmite and throw it in the dustbin. Enjoy my toast and butter. Yes I don't like marmite. 🤣🤣

stevea808 My husband doesn’t like it either, see one of my answers above about the cornetto. I also try and kiss me when I have had marmite, all good fun.

You can use marmite in all sorts of cooking. As mentioned before, it's great to use as stock. I use it every single time I make beef stew. Big dollop goes in the slow cooker with everything else. It's also great on roast potatoes, not only is the flavour good, but it helps seasoning stick to the spuds, and can help get them extra crispy. You can also use it in batter mix, and you get a very similar, and, in my opinion, better taste to beer batter. You can then use the batter to make fish n chips or marmite chicken nuggets. If you Google recipes with marmite, there's probably hundreds. It's very versatile.

If I was given a jar of marmite…it would have to be given away to someone else
