Weโve released quite a significant update to the website today. You may notice a few changes - hopefully you like them! 
Here are some highlights:
Weโve added new ways to filter & sort deals, competitions and freebies, including by price! Let us know if there are any other additional filters youโd like to see.-
Weโve switched to a new way of displaying comments that should mean big long topics load much quicker 
Everything should be a bit snappier! Most of the changes in this update were behind the scenes ones. Theyโve involved almost every part of the website so if you notice something unusual please shout as, chances are, Iโve accidentally broken something. Sorry!
Weโve also made some changes to the points system:
You can now earn points for rating deals every 3 hours rather than every 6 hours! Twice as many points!
Weโve reluctantly removed points for popular (3+ likes) comments in the chat section. The original intent of points for popular comments was to reward helpful comments. Weโve noticed this isnโt really being used as intended in some parts of the the chat section. I totally understand why (and would likely have done very similar myself! 
) but weโve had to take these steps to protect the points system. We want to ensure we can keep it running and also add new ways of earning more points too (like the change we made to rating deals above). I appreciate this isnโt the ideal solution but rest assured weโve got some ideas in the works to re-introduce points for genuine helpful contributions in chat again in the future. And just as a reminder - you can still earn points for popular comments anywhere else on LD.

It can only be an improvement as the Chat section was so obviously being abused by the same few members on a daily basis - they know who they are !
I just so wish that members could view this site as a "Deals site" rather than a "points earning site" as so many do 
. Any points earned should be viewed as a welcome bonus - not the prime reason for being a member ?
I'm not even sure how many deals, comments , posts , likes etc "earn !" points these days though I am sure a certain number of our members do - and it is so obvious !
I am also aware that for many the Amazon vouchers are much needed in these times . They can still be earnt by posting great deals and adding helpful comments surely ? It is a "deals site" after all ?
I have made myself unpopular by criticising the significant minority who have abused the points system on an industrial basis . Probably as most members did not realise the scale of the abuse of the significant minority .
A good first step , if only to remind some members that this is primarily a "Deals site" . Perhaps now the serial abusers will abide by the ethos of the site and just accept their points as a bonus ?
Unfortunately many genuine members will suffer because of the few , but Latest Deals appears to be attempting to achieve a difficult balance which must be applauded.
Golfforall you rant about everyone else taking the mickey and doin the wrongs but u also say this is a deal site.
1- you have shared like 10 deals in the space of this whole year so far but have the audacity to say about deals.....
2 - if you look through your previous shared deals all you do it repeat your Deals. 
for someone who thinks others are doing wrongs this is alittle hypertrophical don't you think?
David1983 I think I just about understand your "rant " - I have tried and hopefully succeeded ?
I have had a difference with my treatment by Latest Deals , no secret there - so naturally ? decided not to post deals to profit Latest Deals . Perhaps childish ? , accepted, as it is our fellow members we should try to benefit whatever our issues with the administration of the site .
I do not post "any old sale, or marketplace non deal " as they are not deals ,even if posted by many as such . Repeated deals ? Thanks for taking an interest in my deals , perhaps you are referring to my Walkers deals , Wotsits for example ? They come on offer for a couple of days at ยฃ6 ish - the rest of the time they are ยฃ12 - ยฃ18 for the identical box - so sorry if you didn't consider those a deal . I did as I love wotsits -but not at ยฃ18 a box

Finally I only post a deal that is a real deal , so often I go days without posting one . Are we supposed to post 3 non deals a day off a sale or Amazon marketplace just to get points ? As so many do ?
Thank you for taking an interest in my deals , please continue to do so and you may find
a great deal that interests you - you will certainly never find me posting a "non deal" for the points . Just wish , that like you , I would be comfortable posting exactly 3 non deals each and every day - Still each to their own standards ?
Hope that has answered your rant - and if it was longwinded , I'm sorry, but I happen to have the time to explain and I think that is how we should all view Latest Deals ? Or am I wrong ?
Golfforall no rant my end mate just stated the facts as you do on numerous occasions cant see how you'd want to be on here if you don't want to profit the app though?
David1983 It may have escaped you -but I only post great deals , thanks for checking my previous deal posts . You state quite rightly I post very rarely these days - As I know what a deal is . Lets face it it would be virtually impossible to click and paste from Yankee bundles or Amazon Marketplace and for it not to be a price reduction ? A reduction yes , but a deal - never ! as I'm sure you well know when posting your 3 a day ?
Unlike yourself I'm not on here to get points , I'm on here to share great deals, to save members money - Sadly they don't appear exactly 3 times a day every day as you seem to believe .
I'm sure the Amazon vouchers are important to you , as they are to many members especially in these times . I'll give you one thing you do have some front criticising my deals , but however ridiculous you gained some points .
Golfforall hahah ok well most are right you do ramble but ok still no further forward are we you still go on about others and their faults but can't even admit your own. As for me gaining points if I was was on here just to gain them I wouldn't come back your comments like I have today and I wouldn't of carried on with my suppose point gaining gif of the day today would I. David1983 Trust me if they are great deals , I'll not only "like" them but leave a glowing comment as well - as I always do when a great deal is posted - Shouldn't we always do that ?

You and David1983 are on here for different reasons and have different points of view, but here is not the place to argue.
If you want a bust up, start a new topic and go at it there.

Seriously Golfforall, you have become a pain in the arse to everyone on LD including members and the team that run it.
You say the same thing over and over again, and everyone's bored of it.

Oh dear, some members are going to have the right hump about the change in chat points.
Kelsey I've found that when I'm posting a chat topic using the app (Android), there is no way to add a pic/gif into the original text and it can only be done if posting using the website.
Any chance it could be sorted?

For once you're right and those members are those who frequent a running topic, for no other apparent purpose than to post gifs and "like" each others' comments. I did some calculations a few weeks ago and the unlimited points for 3+ likes, would be costing LD thousands of pounds a year.
It will be interesting to see how the thousands of comments each week (all with multiple likes) diminish now they've managed to kill the golden goose.
Looking at the number of likes on this topic - it does appear that many haven't realised "yet" that mutually liking each others' comments is no longer an easy way to grab points.
Thanks very much for the updates. The first major thing I have noticed is that the deal section from the main tabs (Website) is now called 'home' . Is that right?
tumblespots Noticed that too and tbh it made more sense to access home by clicking on Latest deal logo, it looks a bit weird now without the deals tab...

We have rejigged the links around a bit. The deals section should still be two short clicks away, by pressing "Home" and then "Deals" at the top. Or selecting "More" and then choosing deals.
Alternatively, just pressing "Home" (or indeed the logo) will take you to the homepage that typically is comprised of mostly deals anyway! (It's rarer vouchers or freebies get enough love to surface onto the homepage).
We had limited real estate at the top of the page and so had to make some tough decisions to give a bit more love and exposure to our news and guides sections.
But as with any change it isn't necessarily permanent if it turns out it's heavily disliked!
Kelsey Thanks for explaining. It was certainly easier when you only had to click once to get to the deals!
Also, I have found that when I change to not show expired items that they still show (website - in the deals section) it could happen elsewhere too but I will be pleased if/when it is fixed.
Thanks for all your hard work, I imagine you have worked your socks off to get us to this point. 
tumblespots Good morning Kelsey I have just cleared my cookies and when I search in deals for unexpired items the expired items do still appear. (website, firefox)
Kelsey Thanks for the update, that explains why nothing was working properly yesterday, seems better today, though need to get used to the new filters system... I have also noticed there is now Like button under my own comments which doesn't make sense as we can't like our own comments 
sunshinemum even though you have the like button, it wonโt let you like your own post it says โyou canโt like your own postโ if you try. We are having some teething issues but will get there. Thanks! 
sunshinemum That's a good spot, I hadn't noticed that until you pointed it out. It had been a very useful feature...
Kelsey I am so sorry for spamming, but can't edit my comments, another thing that doesn't work for me is changing Settings, I see expired posts despite unchecking that box in Settings, tried checking and unchecking it as well, which worked in the past but not anymore...
sunshinemum Hey Just a heads up a fix for editing your comments and hiding the "like" button on your own comments is winging it's way live at the moment
Re: expired posts, do you have an example link of where you're seeing expired posts despite having the option set to hide them? (e.g. is it the homepage? a retailer page? after doing a search?). Thanks!
Kelsey I only see expired posts on my profile page, they're hidden in other sections
That explains why I didn't get points for my popular comment yesterday. It was nice to get extra points for popular comments but won't bother me that it is gone. I love the rate function so I like that it has been changed to every 3 hours.
MrsCraig Unfortunate but necessary, it was obvious that one thread (thousands of comments a week) had little other purpose than to like all other participants' comments or replies. Some times a simple comment like "good morning" or even " 
" was getting liked by all the other points grabbers. I notice the ring leader isn't too happy about the change.
As I've said many of times point are a bonus but think it's a shame that it looks that if some people bitch enough they get what they want
Hi Kelsey yes I have logged out first thing this morning and then logged back in. My only slight complaint is that I have to physically 'mark as entered' as it does not show when I go back to the LD comp page. Personally I prefer it to automatically mark entered with the option of UNmarking if I didn't enter for some reason, this way round I kept forgetting to mark as entered! The changes seem to be cosmetic only and not sure why the filter etc has changed format. But then I am a dinosaur and tend to like the old adage 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.
Lynibis Hey Thanks for this - that also isn't intended! It should mark automatically. I've found the bug and I'm putting an update live for it as we speak
Re: the filters for competitions, the change was made so that people could filter to see multiple entry options at once. Some people said they just want to see e.g. Facebook and Instagram and not anything else. Before, you'd have had to first filter by Facebook and then by Instagram. Whilst it is aesthetically different it hopefully doesn't practically impact people who prefer just to filter by one entry option at a time
