Weight Loss Injections

Ask a Question

Weight loss injections could be used to help get obese people back into work now I agree it could work for a short time to help them lose some weight but I still think it has to come from the individual once they are down to a certain weight they should work the rest of themselves whats your thoughts

Love my journey with my injections such a confidence boost. But your journey doesn’t end once your at your desired weight, this just leads to the next issue. The injections just speed up the weight lose process

adele01 I agree with you I think they should be shown how to keep the weight down yes I am lucky I can lose weight on my own when I want too but that's because mentally I can leave food alone

What sort of work you wonder. If you are obese at a young age and that is the only reason you can't do active work then fair enough but if you are obese due to later life with other health conditions then perhaps it won't achieve much. It needs to be assessed on a individual basis really.

BonzoBanana I think it's for older people as most people with weight issues have other issues because of the weight I just don't think it's a simple fix

Leannexxx I think I saw on the news that these dieting drugs are being rationed and only available to some who need them so it will be weird if they are given more liberally to older unemployed but working people are denied them. We shall see how it goes.

What about those who are obese due to medication weight, no injection can counter that

I have battled with my weight all my life, yo yo dieting is me, l eat because I'm bored I'm very rarely hungry, but if l was able to buy this drug and the weight came off l would definitely only eat when I'm hungry and healthily, but l need to get to a happy weight first.

Our friend is on injections. He pays for them himself. It has helped him to lose weight, but he is also exercising and knows that once he is off them he needs to stick to the diet and exercise. Once you come off them if you don't keep to the diet and exercise the weight goes back on, it happened to another friend.

It would help to kick start the process but then a new healthy mind set and incentive and motivation is obviously needed.

The idea is alarming in my opinion as it's clearly part of a totalitarian agenda aimed at further groups of vulnerable people, and essentially another misguided purge on Benefits cutbacks. Obese people are suffering from either a physical cause or more usually a psychological and emotional cause. There's also the concerning question of how it's decided who gets injected and the criteria used. Would it be mandatory or voluntary? Scary times.

I think that the injections should be a last resort. If some people need them, then I agree there should be a cut off

I have a mind block over this. I don't understand why unhealthy people seem unable to lose weight without the aid of drugs. I would be scared witless putting drugs in my body for something I could do with a bit of willpower.

I have been overweight since my sons were born but not to an extent where I looked overly fat and I was relatively healthy. Then the dreaded diabetes reared its ugly head and it gave me the shock I needed to lose 2 stone very quickly. My levels went down and admittedly I have yo yo'd a lot over the years. However, I have lost another stone recently as my levels had gone up and now I just have an occasional treat. I wouldn't take that drug if you paid me. I try to eat healthy by cutting out/down on cakes, biscuits, sweets and chocolate. You can still eat most other food if you still have your health.

Top tips: make homemade soups, they last up to 4 days in fridge or freeze excess. Cut down on carbs a bit at a time, don't drink fizzy drinks, even diet drinks can fool your body. Eat less food, gradually reducing size of meals and you will find you don't want big meals anymore, eat slowly too. Set times for when you eat so you have something to look forward to.

I slip all the time but I never give up and throw the towel in.

Lynibis That's great that you have been able to do that and had the willpower to do so and well done on your recent stone loss too - no mean feat! The way I understand it is that it also turns off what they call food noise which a lot of people have issues with - they aren't hungry but can't resist the temptation of snacks and crave things. It seems to make people not hungry or interested in food and takes that element away so they don't eat to excess and the weight comes off. Hopefully this trains them that they don't need the extra treats and when they have lost what they want they can come off it and live a normal life. It's all been approved by the NHS and rigorously tested - some people I have seen on Instagram have had their lives changed by it and got their self esteem back so I think if people want to try it and meet the criteria we should not judge them as with everything in life its not one size fits all 😉

emmabeckz it does sound good and I guess if the doctor said I should take it I would. I am glad there is an end in sight as I assumed you either had to keep taking it or would go back to bad ways after losing the weight. Thanks for clarifying. I know 2 people who had gastric bands and although they physically can't eat as much and lost loads initially, they still eat rubbish and have put a lot of weight back on.

I am by no means a goody two shoes but I just don't understand why people carry on eating huge amounts of unhealthy food knowing they have health problems that could kill them. Just the word diabetes was enough to scare me!

Lynibis Yes I agree with you about gastric bands they can stretch and your stomach can go back to normal size and you have lots of issues with digestion and things for the rest of your life. At least with this you can come off it and its out of your body within a week with no lasting effects. Some people comfort and emotionally eat and binge and don't even taste and savour the food just shovel it down to feel full and don't realise. My guilty tv watch its called My 600lb life - people on there make you have a different perspective and make you kind of understand why they do it I do find it fascinating!
