What's the Best Hack Someone Has Shown You

It's an old one but a good one.

I use an empty bottle to separate egg yolks from the whites.

That is the only way I do it

I freeze home made garlic butter in ice cube trays - then when frozen tip out into a bag.

I also freeze spare lemon/orange juice (before the fruit goes off) in ice cube trays - again, when frozen tip out into a bag. Alternatively slice unused lemons/oranges and freeze the slices separately before bagging when frozen - use in your G&T at a later date.

I always put a dishwasher tablet in my whites wash, brings my kids school shirts up looking brand new everytime!

When going away for some time half fill an empty water bottle with water and stand it upright in your freezer to freeze. Before you leave lay the bottle down horizontally. On your return if the ice in the bottle is as you left it, your freezer has not defrosted and refrozen. If however the ice is horizontal like the bottle you need to throw everything away.

If you sell online, reuse boxes of food, envelopes, etc so you save money.

And flattening boxes so it takes less space. This sounds simple, but a lot simply don't do it.

To make superglue work better, moisten the surfaces you want to fix together first.

I hate the word "Hack" yet another Americanism that has somehow got into our not so bright youth lingo ?

To me "hack" stinks of illegal but in fact it just means what your granny will tell you ?

I realise folks these days are often not as bright as they were years ago ? Personally I'll work stuff out myself . As for "influencers" ! - if you take any notice is it not an admission that you have no opinion , point of view of your own ?

Appears to me that these days some of us are becoming so weak minded that we are unable to make decisions off our own back . I find it really sad and a very poor reflection on our society.

We do try to educate people , but far more difficult to give many "Common Sense "?

I clean our toothbrushes by soaking them in a steredent tablet.....to get the candle wax out of a jar stick it in the freezer for an hour or so and it will pop out no problem......

After using my food blender I pour some water and washing up liquid into it and stick it on full speed for a few seconds. All it needs afterwards is a quick rinse.

I have a long haired cat. I was told to sprinkle a little cornflour on his brush before grooming him about once a week. Seems to stop any extra tangles and his fur does look much better. He is an indoor cat - I wouldn’t recommend it if your cat goes outside and gets wet though!

I was told to stop using fabric conditioner in the washing machine. Pour a tablespoon of white vinegar in, this helps clear the detergent from your clothing and preserves the machine stopping limescale building up.

Batch cooking and freezing it's a time saver and money saver.
