What's Your View on Eating Cold Food in Winter and Hot in the Summer?

Ask a Question

Usually, it's preferable to eat cold foods or lighter foods in the summer to cool down while in the winter hot chocolate and soup are more preferred.

What's your view? Do you like to blend in or have opposite likes?

My grandma said it's better to eat hot soup during summer because it helps to keep cool! Anyone else?

I heard something similar to your Grandma's theory.

If you eat too many cold things in summer your body has to work to bring it up to body temperature, thus creating energy and bodily heat.

I have been known to enjoy the odd Ben & Jerrys during winter, and the hottest of curries in a heat wave..

I prefer salads etc in summer and hot comfort food in the winter. My nam always used to say a cup of tea in the summer was better than a cold drink but don’t find it works for me πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

We tend to eat hot food all year round but I do refuse to spend too long cooking on really hot days

Aside from not eating al fresco in the winter my eating habits don't really change. If you're in a warm environment, such as in your home or in a restaurant, then I see no reason to stop eating cold food in the winter 🍨 β›„

Whether you eat or drink hot or cold things your body will try to keep the core temperature stable. so If you have a hot drink you will perspire more. . . the sweat has a cooling effect, but after a cold drink the body will sweat more slowly,

I probably consume about the same amount of cold food in both Summer and Winter

well all I can say is that this week on two scorching days, we've polished off bowls of home made soup in order to empty Dad's freezer-I didn't fancy the idea but it worked out good!

I know hot drinks quench your thirst better in general. I prefer hot food and drinks all year round. Not a fan of cold stuff in general

I always eat what I'm craving at the time. Whether it's hot or cold it doesn't bother me. But I would have an ice cream in the summer to cool me down
