When Your Birthday is 3 Weeks before Christmas

Other

I feel bad as my youngest childs birthday is beginning of December. I’m only getting him a few bits because I know we’re going to be overloaded with gifts at Christmas ( were a big family) although he’s only 2 and knows no different I feel tight!

As long as you make the day as special as possible (and continue to though the years) then that's the important thing. As someone whose birthday is the 21st I was never made to feel that Christmas was the most important day and that the day I was born was inconvenient. As I grew up others thought is was a bit sad that I didn't have a birthday mid-year but my parents always treated my birthday as though it was the most important day and it was never over-shadowed by the 25th.. As you say, at his age, he's not going to feel cheated so don't be too hard on yourself.

Yes I’ll be making sure I don’t overlook his birthday. it’s easy now because he’ll not even know What’s going on. I remember going mad with presents for my first child. He got bored of opening presents lol and had no clue what was happening.

My birthday is in November, as is my sons, so just enough time between them and Christmas but I still don't go overboard as it is 2 celebrations a month apart.

We have 3 boys and the 2 youngest stepdaughters in the middle o the year. Just feel he should get equal to his siblings. He doesn’t know yet as he’s only little. But as he grows he’ll be more observant

LenoirLenoir maybe scale down the other children's so he doesn't feel as left out? Or do an event for them instead that costs the same amount for each and just one present?

I think as long as you make the day special for him and make sure he understands his birthday is more important than christmas day it should be fine. But I understand it can be tough. I had a friend who was born on the 27th December and the family just celebrated her birthday on christmas day, she didn't even get a cake or a small present on her birthday.

My son's birthday is the 20th December so we have the same problem. We have always made a big fuss for his birthday even now he is 17 this year we will make a fuss. There have been a few bigger presents which end up covering both events though so i am sure he does miss out a bit.

My older son was due to be born on Christmas Day but he was born on 21st of December 😂. We try to make big deal out of his birthday and try to keep our though away from Christmas to make his day very special but we try to get a balance and not get overboard with presents.

Both of our children are December babies and always celebrate their birthdays. Never have we given a joint birthday Christmas present. As long as you have a card and birthday cake even a couple of balloons a two year old will be happy.

My Mum & daughter have the same birthday 12 days before Christmas, my son is 8th Jan & I’m the 9th! We all have a second birthday around Easter time 😂

Ive always waited until after my daughters birthday to put decorations up so that she can have her day just for her x

You could have a half birthday. It could be worse, it could soon after Christmas when everyone is broke and doing dry January (more of a problem in a few years time).

My friend has the same situation, their solution is not to put up the tree or any Christmas decor until after the kids birthday. It keeps the two celebrations completely separate. Oh and they have a summer half birthday party

my son's birthday is the 21st and he has always hated it,it isn't so bad now he is 17 this time but when he was a kid he had to wait all year and watch his siblings have birthdays through the year but then it was like he had 2 Christmases the only thing that annoys me is that pple tend to forget as they are so busy with Christmas and he gets his presents wrapped in Christmas paper which has always annoyed me as no one would do that if his birthday was in June this year he will have his provisional licence and driving lessons, he started an apprenticeship the day after he left school and is on a good wage so he buys his own stuff now so I have no clue what to get his this year x

I think we’re going to have a family gathering and make an effort rather that shower him with too many gifts this year. He won’t go without and I intend on making it special every year. Hopefully no one dare wrap his presents in Christmas paper!

Daughter in law 30th November, son 2nd December, daughter 8th December and mine 10th December so we are all going to Lanzarote with others to celebrate each day separately then come back for Christmas.

That works out well with you all having birthdays around the same time. What a great idea x

At 2 years old he won't know any different. I wouldn't feel guilty. Maybe in a few years, but maybe you'll have a strategy you're happy with by then.
