When You Were Born - What Happened?

Other

Have you ever looked up what was in the news when you were born and what did you find out?

For me

Lyndon John was president of The USA

Alec Douglas-Home was Prime Minister

People like The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, Manfred Mann, Mary Wells and Louis Armstrong were in the charts

lynnibis I couldn't believe who was prime minister when I was born, he was only there a short time so that narrows mine down a lot too.

This was an interesting question - apparently it was the darkest day of the Cold War when the Soviets were discovered building a missile silo in Cuba. On a lighter note The Beatles released their first ever single, Ursula Andress walked out of the sea in that bikini in the first ever Bond movie and Marilyn Monroe sang Happy Birthday to JFK!

Thanks for responding, I wasn't sure how many people would! It's interesting to see which facts people select from their 'year'. Ursula Andress is a great one - one we all know well.

I am enjoying this thread so far, and it would be nice if more people contribute to it at some point. Anyway, Michael Jackson's Black Or White was number 1 in the charts when I was born, the World Wide Web had only just became available to the public and George H. W. Bush was President of the United States whilst John Major was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

I also thought more people would find it interesting and add their contributions but never mind, we are all different. Thank you for adding your post, I probably started the thread due to my curiosity about other compers.
