Why is the iPhone so Expensive?

What can't the cheaper brands do that a 200 quid Android can't? Surely the average punter won't care?
They're cheap to make but Apple knows its audience and will charge as high as $1,000 maybe someday they'll try to go for $2,000 and even $3,000. It's Apple so it'll sell no matter what.
I'm perfectly happy with my £60 Android phone (3GB RAM / 64 GB) and my Samsung Galaxy Tablet S2 is great to watch flicks, listen to music and play games on it (rarely).
It's a popular brand, so Apple feels as if they can get away with charging extortionate prices because people are going to purchase their products anyway. It's the same with other brands, such as Dyson.
I agree with Rockman. I have a Samsung android and tablet. Had no problems. Reasonably priced too.
Just because it has the little apple sign on the back, that is all. You pay for the design.
Yeah, and Nintendo is the Apple of gaming.
Nintendo charges absurdly high prices for their games and they get away because.. it's Nintendo! I try to find the lowest prices on Nintendo stuff but even sometimes, the lowest price isn't that low (debatable if it's a deal or not, depends entirely on the customer).
Rockman I do not have time to play with NIntendo and have no waste of money to spend on Apple
I have used iMacs back when I was at college and I really couldn't see what was so special about them. Give me a PC in any day. As you said, it's only because of the Apple logo which I guess some people see it as being like a god.
They sell their products at the price they do because they know people will still buy the products no matter what, meaning they'll make a profit either way. A lot of companies are all about making money these days.
I'm hands down an avid apple fan and though I agree it's expensive, it's money well spent. Have never had security issues, anytime I do have an issue Apple support is quick and efficient, and all my devices work seamlessly. Even when my elderly dad was struggling with getting used to using smartphones, the iPhone is user friendly enough for him to navigate without bugging me as much. If you can afford it, it is money well spent
iPhones are really good in terms of hardware and built quality but for software and storage, I always prefer Android. iOS makes me feel like my hands are tied and can't do as I want.
Even something as simple as a headphone jack has been removed from iPhone devices and microSD support? Never mind that, let's limit the storage to specific amounts and overcharge our customers!
I don't get why some people pay $1k for a phone when all they do is go on Facebook, Twitter, maybe watch some videos, listen to music, take photos or play games.
The only possible advantage is a better camera but if they really are serious about photography, get an actual camera then.
Anyhow, since I have a Windows Phone laying around I decided to give it a go and it was actually really good and easy to browse once used to it. It had microSD support but.. Microsoft discontinued their WP phones. Great screens, hardware quality and audio, though.
Rockman lol that’s effectively what my dad has done - he paid for the ease of use, but hasn’t a clue about the superior functions(if anything, the upgrades just annoy him as he has to learn more about tech than he wants!). But I guess as you get older, you learn than if you can save time and waste less of it on things that frustrate you, then that’s what you’re going to do. I did berate him when he got his first iPhone, as even then I hadn’t bothered with the smartphone market as I felt it was all a big waste of money on things we really don’t need...but time has passed and I can live with the money spent
Because they're amazing! So much faster than any other phone I've owned. I know they say Samsung are technically better, however I just feel like Apple's software is more clear and quick!
