I really don’t understand the way of the world.... i REALLY don’t understand why footballers get paid as much as they do, but also Lawyers charging £200+ an hour.. I know they have a degree and extensive training, but how is it justified? When I’m sure an NHS surgeon has just as extensive training and will never be on that much money...
And WHY is there so much money in football...? Why can’t it just be a high wage, like £50,000 a year to play a sport you love for a living... why is it like £50,000 a week??? Why can’t that money go into the NHS on something 
I suppose because it would be called communism although I understand completely where you are coming from. But your first few words said it all 'it is the way of the world'. It has been the same throughout the millennia and will probably always be so.
The only resolution I could ever see would be to raise our children to share and be altruistic.
Football/soccer is a business where the people involved will spend seriously a lot because they know it's a good investment for them.
Sometimes footie fans take it way too hardcore and the football teams quite often import players from other countries than use their own country's players (to show the world their potential). And so, it's about the money in the end but fans take it to an extreme of praising it religiously.
U.S. has sports almost no one cares about (in the other continents) but they're a huge success in U.S. — NFL, NBA, Baseball (I'd rather watch this than cricket, tbh) and Hockey (this one's pretty big in Canada too).
Quite a ridiculous amount of money they earn especially footballers, I ask myself this question every time I hear that a footballer has moved to another club or team because he has been bought for a ridiculous amount of money. I wish they pump money into our NHS to save lives instead.
National Health Service runs on "free" money by U.K. native and legal immigrant population so they earn less and it's cheaper for patients who use it.
I know, they work hard and they deserve a lot more but they decided to go with NHS so that's their decision. If it wasn't for the NHS a lot would have perished because they can't afford much.
U.S. doesn't have a "free" health system and hell, maybe it's for the best. You are responsible for yourself, try to make the right decisions.
However, if you're part of a shooting attack, etc then obviously you're a victim (unless it's gang related so that's for the police to deal with).
It is privately earned money just as in any business like banking, no government can just take it and give to the nhs, only money from taxes can be distributed to government services.
But what would be nice is if big business put a ceiling on wages and donated excess to worthy causes. But it ain't gonna happen is it? Big business doesn't care about little people, only maintaining their own lifestyle and they can afford private healthcare, education and elderly care.
Prime ministers, last time I heard, are paid around 160k per year. This is nothing compared to footballers, barristers, bankers and the like. Especially when you consider the PM is responsible for running the country and all our lives should the unthinkable happen.
Lynibis oh but he earned so much more than that before. And while he'll have had to give up his newspaper columns, he'll still be earning royalties from his previous work. And let's not forget he and many of his friends in his government have loads invested outside of the country - that's why we're in this mess - Brexit is earning them millions while making us poorer.
Lawyers don't earn £200 per hour, they might charge that as their fee but the vast majority of people who work at law firms are not fee-earners. For example, that £200 per hour will cover salaries for secretaries, managers, IT support, accounts department, cleaners, rent on the building, electricity and things like insurance and professional registration, costs of training etc.
Also, my son had a private appointment with a consultant who also works for the NHS and it was £200 for less 30 minute, so I would imagine that a surgeon could easily earn £200 per hour if they got a few private patients.
thats interesting, i didnt realise that.. my partners best friend is married to a lawyer who earns mega money and basically supports both of them.. she’s in her early thirties and has been made partner at her law firm and buys him very expensive new cars, bought their huge house in an expensive area, pays for lavish holidays etc..
It annoys me how people go on love island and come out earning millions they didn't even work there way up the ladder to achieve it

That too! But I do think the likes of love island “fame” and money doesn’t last long... footballers can be set for life, especially if they are an exceptional player and can get jobs afterwards as tv personalities, hosts, commentators etc...
I think is amazing isn't it how much the pay can vary. It's unbelievable how big the gap is between us ordinary people and the 'elite'. I personally don't have a probably with nhs staff being paid more, it's a bigger issue with footballers etc.

That is interesting, huge variation! I knew surgeons weren’t on bad money, but for the pressure of the job and working hours I know are insane, its not mega money..
I read a story in a newspaper a few days ago saying that the person with the highest salary in London in the year 2018 was a GP who declared around 600k in salaries.
Obviously the report was not including sportsmen, but "normal" people.
