In my opinion W10 is the worst system ever - Windows have tried (unsuccesfully) to make a system that is supposed to be better than previous systems.

I've found that the more I try to speed W10 up - the slower it gets.

I have an old PC (bought 2002) that has XP on it - When I used it a few weeks ago I was amazed at how fast it was. Windows 7 which was on the laptop I'm using now was fast too - I wish I'd never been almost forced into installing W10. Another laptop bought last year with W10 ready installed is a total waste of time.

I suppose to answer the question the best way to speed it up is to totally uninstall it and then install Windows 7.😀

I am so glad I am not the only one. I panicked to get Windows 10 when it was the free upgrade and lasted three weeks. davidstockport I totally agree - I hated it and it was slow! (it promised great things) I know lots of people who have no problems whatsoever - my husband being one of them. After having a tearful tantrum with W10 I decided I'd had enough, picked up my dummy, and got W7 reinstated. I realise I will have to eventually upgrade but I'm holding out for the time being.

angemski We're not the only two who think W10 stinks - instead of computers getting easier to use Microsoft have nearly got it that we'll soon need a degree in computing to use their systems. W10 has so many totally unnecessary things on it which slows it down and over complicates things, only the real techies know what can be removed safely.

I'd like to see it that all operating systems come with just the basics on them - then let the user choose what things they wish to install.

Better still "BRING BACK XP"😀 (surprisingly many techies agree with that).

I use Windows 10 without any problems. Although I run two of the gaming machines and server all with SSDs and 32GB of RAM. There are plenty of ways to try and speed up Windows 10 and websites that go through the basics.

The biggest pain in the neck is searching for files. This is easily fixed by downloading a freeware piece of software called Everything that will change you searching for files life forever! Never used the windows system to search for items it is far too slow.
