I just the article and seemed a bit of a palaver to me. We had roast potatoes last night so I part boiled and put them in the oven with the chicken thus saving money from using another gadget.

eyeballkerry if it's genuine they do look good but as you say you will need to put the oven on for the meat and yorkshires, unless you use an air fryer. I did my chicken and roast spuds in air fryer last weekend and just steamed some veg and used the water to make gravy which saved boiling the kettle!

Lynibis I have an insinkerator tap which I can not give up at the moment, it’s one of my luxuries so I do not have a kettle.

eyeballkerry that would be great and make more space on the work top. I don't know the running cost but I guess it's efficient as you only use what you need.

I would say that it might be cheaper after u boli to another gadget that only cost u 5p or so but if u r going to put the chicken aswell u could use the oven or use another cheaper oven gadget

That's a good tip with using the water from the stemed veg to do gravy if u r using instant

suga0147 I do that if I boil/simmer veg in a saucepan on the hob reuse the hot water for gravy.

People will be telling us to cook them on a radiator next, boiling then the slow cooker will not cost 5 p.

Howmuch Yep, there's always a catch to these low cost solutions.

People could use wood, fire it up, and cook, but the problem is folks in major cities don't have access to it or even have the place to.

We have a fireplace though we've never actually used it because I don't even know where I'd buy wood from, or if it'd be economically cheap to do so. As such, it's sealed up in case a rat or a bat gets in through it.

PhilipMarc Wood is expensive if you pay for it and I am always surprised how quickly it goes.

Howmuch Indeed it is.

Saw this image on YouTube and hard to know whether it was cut for firewood or what:

Couldn't last very long if it was for a fireplace.

Maybe she left it in the oil & keep turning it or she leaves it to burn
