What Words Did You Say Wrong as a Child?

Ask a Question

Just been on another Chat, and it reminded of words I couldn't say properly as a child. For soldiers, as in egg and soldiers, I used to say soljers. Vinegar was vigenar. Bottle was bokkle. Hospital was hospical. What were your words.

We have an awkward one in our house at the minute with our 2 year old. He loves trucks, except 'tr' is pronounced 'f'

We have monster F***s, dumper f***s, you name it! Such innocence, and hard not to react, as don't want him doing it on purpose 😆🤦‍♀️

🤣 kids are so funny aren't they! When my eldest was young and it was bedtime he used to say no bed, but he said it as one word, and it sounded like he was saying something completely different! He was having trouble with his speech at the time!

lucyeva72 brilliant!!! We have a 3 year old too, so very careful not to let him see us laughing, as although he won't understand, he will totally copy just to get:the laughs!!

We have videos to bring out at a later age!

My sister couldn't pronounce 's' this was replaced by 'f'. The best was when asked in the shop what sweets she wanted, Smarties were her favourite. I also got a hot bot for trying to teach her letters by repeating car numbers, ours was FCN only I told it as f c n! I had no idea what the word meant.

I struggled with hospital for a while as a youngster. I used to pronounce it as 'ospical'. My OH teases me often because I still struggle with specific & often pronounce it as pacific. 😐

This reminds me of a funny story, When my son was little we took him to visit my grandfather, my grandad in the middle of telling us about his neighbour being taking away by an ambulance the previous day my son loudly & dramatically bursts out.....Stop saying "ambalance" grandad, it's ambUUUUUUlance'

I remember watching the news with my brother when I was a child, and I said "Conservatory" instead of "Conservative".

My oldest used to say 'bunk' for milk, and my middle son used to call my oldest 'nah' which is nothing like his name but if he didnt answer he would say his name properly....strange! Lol.

I remember when i first met my partner and his son was around 5/6 years old he struggled with the letter 's' and used to say 'd' instead and one day playing in the garden he found a big STICK....we still laugh now at that!! And he's 20 🤣

Permanent. I struggled with that word much as a child I ended up sitting for hours trying to pronounce it correctly. I would end up saying things like Pernament and even Parliament 😂
