DO You Work 4 Days a Week?

Ask a Question

Do you want a 4 day work week?

Simon Cowell has said he has Fridays off now and thinks they are a pointless day to go to work, so what do you think?

I don't personally but I think if you're able to have the Friday off it would be great 😍 it would mean working longer the other days or coming in earlier.

I tend to work 4 long days (7am till 9pm) and then have 3 days off. I could work half days but see no point in the winter. I’m definitely in favour of shorter working week even if it means working more hours each day.

jms19 Do you think you have a better work life balance that way?

SamGoodship for myself yeah but i don’t have any children. I can understand why parents wouldn’t want to work long days like i do cause they wouldn’t see their kids for half the week

I work everyday lol. Being at home everyday there's always work to be done. Be it washing, cooking cleaning etc.

nadinegregg70 The topic is more around people who have a job outside the home 🙂 (or working from home )

I work the standard week, sometimes more, sometimes less. Flexi is the way to go

I am retired but I do think that is a good idea to shorten the working week as it keeps traffic off the roads, reduces energy consumption and gives people more of a break from the work routine. Even so, there is plenty of work to be done at home or in the garden!

I work 4 days a week (for employer) I do actually work Friday and Sunday. Having a family means no real days off just paid and unpaid

Five days for me but have to admit that Friday is generally my easiest day as I tend to try and get as much of my work completed earlier in the week.

I've done it in the past and found it really good as I had more time to enjoy life. It makes sense to do it as only 7 days in a week.

I dropped to 4 days a week about 6 years before I actually took early retirement, I loved it and it worked for me.

vixe80 More and more workplaces are starting to offer a 4 day work week now, typically it means working a bit longer over 4 days so you get that extra day off.

I work part time 5 days a week. My hours work around my sons nursery hours. I was full time before I had my son and we did short days on a Friday (we still do but it's my normal day now) and loved having a shorter day, especially as it didn't affect pay.

I’m with Simon on this one. I work 4 longer days compressed and have Fridays off. It’s changed my outlook on work, would never want to go back to 5 days a week.

I work 4 nights a week. Not full time but 32. My last job before being made redundant was 4 nights a week. 40 hours a week. I am looking for something else but 4 days a week If I can because as you can see I have done 4 days for along time. I am not Simon Cowell, I don’t have his money but I can survive to live comfortably on 4 days without touching my savings etc.

I wish. I work 5 days but can sometimes work weekends and holidays. Joys of working with kids is I end spending time off planning and getting resources for work because there's no money in education or childcare so we either spend our own money or go on free sites getting resources

I wish, that would be a dream come true, I currently work 7days on, 1 day off, 3 days in 3 days off then back to 7 days in again

If no one worked weekends then there wouldn't be working supermarkets, attractions etc. and some people wouldn't survive, thanking those that do work all hours!

If he recently said that publicly then that is a bit of a hit to the gut for those that work 6-7 days a week, or even multiple jobs and still can't afford food, housing or heating.

Of course we aren't all in that situation and he can say what he wants and do what he wants (well within the law) but now probably isn't the time to be bragging (I have no idea of the context, so he very well might not have said it in a certain way)

I work normally 5 days a week and from time to time 6 days. Hours are 7-6ish, I do work for a company but am the general manager of the branch so make the hours work around what I need as well as the team I have.
