Ask a Question

Lets talk Christmas! If you have more than one child, do you spend the same amount on each one? 🎁

I used too when the children were younger and it was difficult to get the right amount of presents for each one as well.

I have no kids but I’d definitely be spending roughly the same amount on both of them for both birthdays and Christmases, unless it was important birthdays like 18 etc

jms19 What about for a bigger age gap say if one was 5 and the other is 14, the prices of things they want vary quite a bit. So say you spent £100, that could buy a lot for the younger one and for the older one that same amount would buy 1 or 2 gifts they want.

No, I find as they get older I spend more, but my youngest is still only 4. It often actually looks like she gets more though, as her toys are bigger than her brothers stuff.

I don't have children, but I spend roughly the same amount on my 3 nephews' gifts

Yes I have a spreadsheet on my phone for birthday and Christmas to make sure I spend roughly the same on each.

Try and spend roughly the same amount on each but make sure they have roughly the same amounts of presents.

MatthewMattison I like the idea of doing a similar number, it's what my parents did for us.

SamGoodship parents did it for me and my brother also so that's what I follow

Yes unless they are older they tend to get smaller things tho but twice maybe 3 times the price of one of the younger ones presents so it looks like the younger ones get more

Yes I always try to spend roughly same on each of my kids and grandkids and their partners etc. I’m that mum that actually feels guilty if I spend £2 more on 1 than others

I had a rhyme for Christmas. Buy something they want, something they need, something they wear, something they read. It helps with you spend approximately the same for all xx

FionaHitchman I like this rhyme. My kids are now adults so I give them money. My younger son has a milestone birthday in January so he will get some cash as his car insurance is due.

We spend around the same amount, my older kids now get a bit less than the younger ones, we try and make it equal though

I don't have kids myself but I do get gifts for the niece and nephews for birthdays and Xmas etc. I try to keep it fair for all of them and spend much the same money and same quantity of gifts. Its not easy

Yes I spend the same amount on their birthdays and Christmas. If they can’t think of anything then they get the cost in their bank accounts.

I only have the one child. If I had more then I would try to spend roughly the same amount but it would depend on the ages of the children and what they wanted/needed. I spend roughly the same amount on adult family members.
