Buyer's guide

When it comes to eye health, finding quality yet affordable options is crucial. Specsavers stands out in the UK for offering a wide range of glasses, contact lenses, and eye care services that doesn't break the bank. They are popular for their budget-friendly offers, such as the two-for-one deals on glasses starting from just £69. This is especially beneficial for those who rely on varied pairs for different needs, like reading and computer use, ensuring you get value without compromising on style or function. Moreover, Specsavers keeps its catalogue updated with the latest trends and materials, meaning you can trust you're getting modern spectacles at prices that are hard to beat.

However, while Specsavers excels in affordability and range, it's essential to book an eye test directly through their website to secure their best prices and offers. They often run free eye test promotions, subject to availability and store participation, which can save you an additional chunk of money. Their comprehensive eye tests are not only cogs in their money-saving offers but are also pivotal in offering personalised glasses and contact lens solutions. The website offers a virtual try-on feature, letting you preview how frames look on your figure before committing, coupled with detailed guides on choosing the right type of lenses. Customer service is generally well-reviewed, with many praising the ease of booking and the helpfulness of the staff. Yet, it pays to shop around and read reviews of your local branch, as experiences can vary.

Specsavers sales

  • £69 Glasses Offer: Originally stumbled across thisn't miss while browsing for winter eyewear essentials. Starting yearly around January, this promo offers selective frames priced at £69 with standard single-vision lenses included. An absolute must for anyone keen on refreshing their specs selection without breaking the bank.
  • 2 for 1 Glasses from £69: This is pretty much a constant promotion that deserves a spot on anyone's savings radar. Essentially, when you buy a pair of glasses from the £69 or above range, you can pick another pair within the same price range or less for absolutely free. The cherry on top? This deal includes designer glasses as well, making it an ideal pick for fashion-forward savers.
  • Free Eye Test Offers: While not an annual sale, Specsavers periodically offers free eye test vouchers on its website. Though subject to NHS entitlement and prerequisites, it’s a golden opportunity for a health check-up without dipping into your savings. Keep an eagle eye on their website or sign up for their newsletter to catch this offer.
  • 25% Off for Over-60s: Tailored for the more experienced crowd, this enduring promotion gives anyone aged 60 and over a generous 25% discount on any single pair of glasses from their £69 range or above. An excellent way to keep your specs updated without fretting about the expenses.
  • 'Kids Stay Free' Offer: A highlight for parents, Specsavers runs this thoughtful promotion enabling children under 16 to not only get a free NHS eye test but also select a second pair of glasses from a specified range at no extra cost. This deal, running throughout the year, underscores the importance of value and vision health for the younger ones.

Each of these offers brings something unique to the table, but the key takeaway I've found is consistently being diligent. Between catching limited-time specials and making the most of long-standing deals, saying 'cheers' to savvier spectacle shopping at Specsavers seems like a pretty clear vision, indeed.

Delivery & Returns

At Specsavers, convenience meets affordability, whether for picking up your new spectacles or returning them. They offer a variety of delivery options to fit your schedule, including free in-store collection for those who prefer to pop into their local branch. For those looking for the comfort of their home, there's also a home delivery service, albeit a small fee may apply. If your glasses don't quite fit the bill, Specsavers has a no-fuss return policy, allowing returns within a specific period. However, it's wise to check their website as fees may apply for certain return processes. Always a bright idea to stay informed on the specifics to avoid any unexpected charges!

I have been a customer of specsavers for several years now and overall I have been happy with the service I have received. I went for an eye test recently and the staff were very professional and helpful. They have a good range of glasses and the 2 for the price of 1 is a good deal. I did find that they pushed the anti glare lenses a bit much. It felt a bit like a hard sell. I did opt for the anti glare and now wished I hadn't as they are harder to keep clean and I really can't feel a major difference. I wouldn't opt for them next time. I would recommend Specsavers though and will continue as a customer.

They have really helpful, friendly staff who could help me find exactly what I was looking for. They have an amazing range of gorgeous frames, for very reasonable prices (their prices include lenses, which is great!). All their products are affordable, and they gave me advice on how I can save money for my next appointment.

Went for eye test booked online very simple. Answered extensive questions online to reduce time in store. Seen very quickly, fast test, glasses ordered. Appointment booked for fitting today. Whole process was very quick and to the point. Full support all the way through. Would definitely recommend this optician to all.
