100 Days to Christmas Are Shops Marketing This Earlier and Earlier?
Ask a Question
I have just been inundated with marketing emails reminding me it is only 100 to Christmas. I seem to remember it used to be after Haloween before Christmas stuff was on the shelves. Do you think it's a clever plot to buy more? e.g you buy the tins of chocolates because they are on offer knowing you will have to replace them or is that just me?
Yes, I agree with you this year advertising Christmas products have started already. I see those chocolate tins in stores welcoming you as soon as you enter.
I am really surprised at how early Christmas begins in the stores - not really in to it this early!
I think it's nice to have something to look forward to, what with many peoples holidays and lives taking a hit this year.
If people don't like it, simply ignore it.
Whilst thinking it's too early, I must admit that as I have been spending more time in-doors.I have done more internet shopping, so have been making the most of the deals, so have done most of my Christmas shopping although I will have to remember what I have bought and where I have hidden them
I wish there was some kind of moratorium on Christmas until at least November.Lets get Halloween out of the way first.
On the way to work this morning the radio station had all I want for Christmas playing!!!! Far too early for Christmas songs urgh
Agree, I have a friend who hates Christmas and the build up to it just makes her feel more alone. My personally hate " It Wish it could be Christmas Everyday" by Slade, but I do like other Christmas songs but in December
I can’t believe it’s only 100 days until Christmas! I feel like I need to start shopping but know it will get left until last minute the same as every year lol!
I suspect alot of shops will be hoping to claw back some of the money they lost during the pandemic (those that were closed at least) hence the earlier marketing this year.
True & if you go by the number of parcel deliveries I get ever day, I have done my bit for the economy
I think this year people are starting early because they want the year to be over and have something to look forward to! So I think the shops have started early to reflect that..
Yes definitely, I posted a competition in July to win a Christmas bundle for 2021. So, not only are we getting marketing for this Christmas, but also the next one Merry Christmas for 2021! - https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/competitions/win-2021-christmas-box-croftandcole
It doesn't seem right that there are more Christmas decorations than Halloween decorations in store when Halloween is closer
Iv noticed that there doesn't seem to be as many Halloween decorations in stores. I think maybe the shops have realised there is going to be fewer Halloween gatherings this year so demand for costumes is going to be lower & so therefore they have ordered fewer stock.
Glitterandgold I agree with you, it is so difficult to find any Halloween things. It is understandable that the stores don't want to waste money buying stock when there will probably be nobody trick or treating. It is a shame, I have been going from shop to shop trying to find a pumpkin pie and nobody is making any this year. I have had to import Halloween snacks from America
This year I have been more organised than ever I started buying in January. Maybe past me knew what was in the offing......
Completely agree. It's the same ever year. Except this year is quite different for lots of families.
Missing family members and friends is always more poignant over the festive season. This year has been one to remember for all the wrong reasons.
I am not a big Christmas person myself. This year, will probably be even more low key. I kind of like it that way. I think the message of Christmas gets lost amongst the endless needless and excessive gifts. It is my least favourite Christian festival. Any meaning has been lost a long time ago.
Xx
People lost their jobs, have no money. Lock down months on reduced income was a hit for most.
I think we will balance back if we spend less during Christmas.
I agree with the sentiment as I lost my Mum this year. However, I get a lot of joy from choosing gifts for friends and family and during lock down online retail therapy has help me keep my spirits up. As I know Christmas itself will be extremely hard for me
I only think of pressents if I see a good deal until after my daughter birthday end October
I do have 1 or 2 things and buy paper when cheap after Christmas
I have but only because there have been such good deals, recently and I needed to justify spending so much
