13-19 Exemption
Ask a Question
Bit of a rant, but just got on the bus all adults are wearing a face mask and three teenagers just got all saying that as they are teenagers they are exempt. First time I've heard this. Is it true teenagers are exempt? I last heard that under 11s and those with certain health issues were exempt. Please correct me if im wrong.
That generation is being misinformed on social media and think we are all fools doing blindly what government wants got to let them figure these things out as having a go at them only cements there theory.
SuzJ thats what I thought so thats why I started this chat as im confused with the news at the moment
Maybe they are just as confused as everyone else about all these different rules that are changing all the time. I know where I live in Wales there is no requirement for teenagers to wear masks on dedicated school transport, maybe that's the case where they are and thought it applied on all buses, so difficult to work out what's right and what's not anymore .
Imnotcheap Yes it seems to vary area to area council to council, neighbouring authority with us is enforcing it but ours is not, it's absolute mess and this is what everyone is so confused.
When I am they not exempt and honestly if I was I'd still wear one. We're not going out much still getting shopping online but if my kids go out anywhere but school they wear masks even though youngest don't have to they're 4 and 6 I want them to be safe as possible
I think you misunderstand the reason for face coverings, they are not to protect the wearer but to protect anyone your children get near to. (from the children).
The protection from masks is exceptionally minimal to the wearer (unless very specialised PPE masks).
If your children don't mind wearing masks - don't stop them.
If EVERYONE wore face coverings, when required, to protect others, it would drastically cut the spread of the virus.

It’s absolute rubbish what they are saying but they have achieved what they wanted you fell for it and they got there bus ride!!!!
Js26 i didnt fall for it I wasnt driving the bus, i was told in my local area those 11 and under, or had any specific health issue are exempt from wearing 1
hspexy I didnt think they would be but thought the bus driver wouldve at least give them a warning and told them to wear 1 next time
I think they were swinging it, after all no-one challenges them these days. The rules are shown below copied from this site https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own
Teenagers should wear a face mask and are not exempt. I think they said that because they think they can get away with it!
Letgetfreestuff sounds about right with young 1s these days, they get away with allsorts
I’m sure it’s only under 11 or people that are exempt for medical reasons?! I really don’t understand it ... protect yourselves people!!
I saw some 5 year olds wearing masks in the shop and they were fine so teenagers not wearing mask is bollocks.
