Where Can a 17 Year Old Get a Covid Vaccine from ?
Ask a Question
I have a 17 year old son who had Covid in April and was told after 28 days after diagnosis approach your doctors and ask about the vaccine . We called the surgery at the beginning of May and was informed they was doing the vaccine for 30-40's ,jump forward to last week and we called the surgery again and they still were just doing the 30-40's . In connection where I live we have 1 of the highest rates in the country and young adults are the worse affected and with him having Astmha I am now starting to stress as his he.
If the surgery isnt helping where should I try or should I just persevere with the doctors as I would love him to have it done before he goes back to college in September .
Thank you in advance for any advice .
I'm not quite sure whether your boy will be able to get a vaccine atm as he is under 18, you might just have to wait.
If his asthma is really bad, he really should have been called in by now.
Sorry I can't be of anymore help

It looks like he won’t be eligible until September stuartsmith544. Who advised him to contact the GP after 28 days? Were they aware of his age?
I think he will have a level of immunity because he has had Covid so he shouldn’t be high risk.
Do they have any walk in places around you? Recently we've had vaccine walk in clinics pop up in our town and just out of town.
Bit of news, stuartsmith544
BBC News - Covid:-19 Decision on vaccinations for under-18s 'within days'
It might help to phone 119 and ask them, even if they can't help they might be able to put you in touch with someone who can. If you do phone, it's free, please let us know how you got on?
davidstockport 119? Yeah, and that'll be really good for millions of people clogging up the system when under 18s aren't going to get the jab atm.
What are you thinking?
It's like me phoning 999 because I've bumped my toe. I know what the answer will be.
DON'T PHONE US JUST BECAUSE YOU'VE BUMPED YOUR TOE
TheChimp The 119 number is for anyone requiring information about the Covid or the jabs, it isn't an emergency number. Many under 18s are getting jabs especially those with health issues (asthma is one of them).
You ask what I am thinking my answer is LOGICALLY.
I doubt there would be any objection to a person who's been told he should have the jabs asking via 119 - as I said even if they can't help they might know where to get the appropriate advice.
davidstockport Everyone knows that jabs aren't available to under 18s at the moment, so why advise someone to phone 119?
What if every parent phoned 119 for advice when they already know their kids can't have it? It would just block up the whole system.
It's like everyone knowing that somewhere like Tesco doesn't stock a certain item, let's just say Mrs Elswood Pickled Gherkins, and then everyone in the country phoning up Tesco CS to ask them whether they stock Mrs Elswood Pickled Gherkins. It really won't help people who really have a real need to get through to CS.
