Who Thinks There Will Be a 2nd Wave?
Ask a Question
Does anyone think we will have a second wave of Covid-19? I personally dont think we will and hope we dont.
Of course we will, especially after tonight. Grown mature adults, supposedly, acting like kids given the run of a sweet shop.
Definitely will with the idiots out today and more fool them that were waiting at 6am this morning. I not been out nearly 4 months and first time went today. Went tea time and was only hand full in shop.
Yes of course we will!! Who in their right mind drastically lifts the lock down when people are dying of the virus every day, with Trump and the idiots in America standing shoulder to shoulder and Boris here, who you would have thought would have more sense, seeings he had the virus himself, then what hope is there?? What we really need is, all these idiots today and also the ones on the packed beaches, as long as they keep away from the rest of us, we need a load of them to come down with the virus big time, perhaps then it will get through..... .......or maybe not!! x
As much as I hope not, I do think we will. A lot of scientists/experts have advised that the easing of lockdown measures was premature and have predicted that due to this there could be a second wave.
Other countries that eased restrictions saw an increase in COVID-19 infections. I'd be surprised if that isn't the case in the UK.
It's only normal to have an increase with the lifting of restrictions however, I don't get the flying restrictions to certain countries mostly because the UK hasn't had the time to see the increase from these latest changes...
I feel like we’re not even out of the first wave yet... I read something online that said in March when we went into lockdown, there was only 74 deaths and now there is still 170+ deaths a day but they’re easing restrictions.. it’s too early but purely because there weren’t strict enough lockdown rules and the people who didn’t obey them
I think that we will have a 2nd wave. If you look at the other countries that have lifted lockdown, they have had a spike in new cases after restrictions have been lifted so based on that it is likely we will have one. I hope we don't, but I really think we will do
I'm sure there will be a second wave and the NHS are thinking that also. My daughter has had her secondment to Covid extended from September until end of March, they are keeping the testing pods open.
It is likely to come back in the flu season....
And we slowed down immunity with 3 months uggh...maybe we will be immune around next October
Think it's going to be with us for a good while on and off, something we are going to have to learn to manage and live with like many other diseases. well at least until they hopefully find a vaccine for it.
Yes I think so after seeing pictures of no social distances in pubs and on streets in London on first night of reduced measures last night. These people will then go on to visit family ad friends now restrictions lifted. I do hope I am proved wrong... I like everyone else want to get back to some form of normality, however without keeping to social distancing measures, might take us even longer. These people wi
The more we understand it and create vaccines and cures the less significant a virus it will be. It is on borrowed time really. I'm expecting it to be a significant threat to health into next year but can't see it going beyond that. Need to stop buying soo many goods from China though. These wet and wild markets I'm sure will continue and we will always be at threat creating new viruses and virus strains that have jumped between wild animals and humans. The source of new viruses and new strains of virus is still there. We had sars and this is basically sars 2, there could still be sars 3, sars 4 etc. People who visit China should have a comprehensive procedure of how to act while there and should automatically go into isolation for a few weeks after arriving back in the UK. This all adds costs and time so perhaps people will organise more sales through skype and virtual business meetings. All goods from China should be transported by water rather than air to give any virus time to die.
I also think the WTO should organise a world tariff on Chinese goods of something like 3% for the next 5 years because of what China has done and this tariff would be on top of any existing set tariff. I just feel its important to punish China for what they have done because if they are not punished they will not change what they do and they have been the source of many deadly viruses now and just don't seem to care about the 100s of thousands of people they have killed.
I think march was the 2nd wave- i think 1st wave was back in December- except no one was aware what it was & it was lumped in with the usual seasonal illnesses
I think the second wave will happen since some humans can’t survive without going to a pub and ramming streets queuing for a pint.
I don't think we will see numbers as high as we had. Remember we are more aware & alot more prepared now than we were back in March. Numbers will fluctuate up & down tho until we build up enough immunity or develope a vaccine. We all need to accept Covid is a part of our lives for a couple years at very least I reckon.
We're going to have a second spike, big style.
It seems that the government have given in and have thought that we might as well all catch it, and whoever dies, dies. They're certainly haven't been listening to scientific advice and are not listening to it now.
If we aren't all careful it looks likely and looks like people are getting fed up of being home all the time
There is no doubt that another spike will hit us. It seems that we are going to have to live alongside it for a few years if the predictions prove to be accurate.
Not convinced there will be big second wave. With any luck local spikes can be managed effectively
I wouldn't be shocked we did have a second wave and we need to look at the selfish British public and the buffon at number 10 if we do.
The R rate is actually high across the UK. There is a predicament regarding lifting lockdown. If it causes the economy to slump into recession then more would die from poverty than the virus. This useless Govt locked down too late. By at least three weeks. We are an island, it should have been easier than eurozone countries yet we have the 2nd highest global death rate. Says it all. The way forward is treatment for the symptoms of Corona. It is primarily a respitory disease and some progress is being made. Unfortunately despite all the bluster there probably won't be a vaccine any time soon. If the people of this country were masks in public it would help immensely.
The majority of masks offer limited safety for the wearer but they massively increase the limiting of passing on infection. The second wave will be much more lethal. It will probably arrive during the flu season and survive better due to cooler weather.
