What 3 Items Couldnt You Live Without
Other
Let’s pretend your friends/family decide to treat you to a well deserved rest . Your going to stay on a deserted island for two weeks alone (so you can totally relax and rest with no distractions).
There’s plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables growing and fresh water to drink BUT what 3 items would you insist on having with you ? Why have you chosen the items you have ?
Would I be defeating the purpose by taking my laptop with me . It's awful but I doubt I would be able to manage two weeks away from computer . I've got books on it , games to play etc
If I can't have my laptop I suppose I'd take a huge book (or trilogy of books, lol), a writing pad with pens (just imagine being deserted, trying to write your journal and your only pen runs out of ink . Lol
sabrinabingham I agree that would be a nightmare running out of ink. Maybe it would ruin your “relaxing fortnight getaway “ LOL .
Yes taking laptop would sort of defeat the purpose but not entirely. Mmmmmm I’m still deciding on that but I think I’ll allow it because on my imaginary island there’s no internet access. LOL . At least you will be able to write (or type) your journal without worrying about ink. Lol
My kindle, can't sleep without a good read first.
Mobile phone as I couldn't go that long without speaking/texting family/friends.
My medication as I literally wouldn't survive without them!
Lynibis I was going to say that I had a new rule to my island , there’s no phone reception or internet but as you have put it so beautifully that you couldn’t go that long without contacting your family/friends (loved ones) , I’ve made an exception to the rule . There’s phone reception and internet coverage just where you are . You must have a very special close bond with your family.
Nickyhaslam77 Lol, yes I was wondering if phones were allowed. I do get regular phone calls from my 2 sons, their wives and my grandchildren so it would be hard to be totally alone on a desert island as I live alone anyway, mind you, it could be ok as I am used to it
Lynibis LOL I think these days ppl couldn’t relax without their phones and it’s understandable, but it’s meant to be relaxing treat so ppl couldn’t enjoy their island experience without contacting loved ones .
I would take a general knowledge book with me. To refreshed my memory. Michelle Obama memories. I think it would take me more than two weeks to read it. A battery operated radio for listening to music, debates, and the world news.
jam45 I too love reading so a good book or two (or ten ) LOL would be high on my wish list.
Me roll ups and lighter i know not everyones choice but takes the strees away for me phone as I talk every day to my kids and grandkids and last me coffee to keep me sain
1.Some good books to keep me occupied. 2. A camera to take pictures of the beautiful surroundings. 3. A radio to listen to music.
My family (although not a thing)
My holidays once a year
My phone. I know that’s a bit sad but I’d be lost without it.....
Mayhem unfortunately I think that goes for all of us . We would all be lost without our phone. The phones do so much these days . I mean think of all the devices that are redundant thanks to our phones (calculator, diary, camera, maps, bank app. Etc) LOL
Mayhem I know , I actually thought I’d lost my phone last week and the dread I felt was awful. My dad had given me a lift home and stopped on way to put petrol in car . We were in a rush so I paid while Dad put petrol in . When I got home I grabbed my handbag, checked I had my keys and phone !!!!! But DISASTER I couldn’t find phone . Dad rang it but couldn’t hear it . I went inside my house with heavy heart and logged onto “find my phone “ . It was at the Asda store near my Dads house. I rang my Dad to see if he was at the Asda , and he was . So then I asked him to have a proper good look for my phone because it was at Asda (where he was , LOL). He found it under seat and somehow it had been knocked onto silent mode . Hence why we couldn’t hear it ringing. Lol
Agnes4indy you’ll come back from your holiday retreat with lovely conditioned hair.
It’s a good idea though shampoo and conditioner, but I’d just leave a conditioner treatment in my hair for as long as possible, put on a sun hat and not bother with my hair again until I getting ready to go home . Lol
Nickyhaslam77 lol I don't feel clean if I don't have a shower and hair washed every morning lol, but thats just me lol x
Food, whilst there is fresh fruit and veg I would want more than that.
My husband and son, I can't imagine going anywhere without them.
My tablet so I could stay connected to what's going on in the world
Admittedly I'm not very good at just doing nothing
MrsCraig me neither, sometimes I think I’ll have a day doing absolutely nothing and I’m fine for first hour then I start getting fidgety. LOL . I think our day to day lives are so busy that we’re not used to doing nothing
Nickyhaslam77 I'm always running around after my son or busy doing the housework, laundry etc. I will sit down to watch something and go oh I need to do this, then get distracted doing something else and don't get round to the tv show!
Lip balm sunscreen and a good book the sunscreen and lip balm to protect my skin and the book for when I get tired of exploring
Something to read and something to play music through headphones I think. Also after a hard day sunbathing and chilling out on the beach I'd want a super comfortable bed to sleep on.
A roof over my head with heating and water. Just basic things after watching the news makes me appreciate what I have.
