£30 Asda Throw Saves Us £60 a Month!!

Money Saving

Had to share this! We bought a heated throw from Asda. It is a silent night one and it is reduced at the moment from £40 to £30. It is a heated blanket you can snuggle up under on the sofa at night and you can fit two adults under it. Just plug it in to the wall.. may need an extention lead... and off ya go. I monitored our meter and it cost about 6p an hour to run. Its so cosy we dont need the heating on and our house is mighty cold! we worked out we are saving £2 a day on the heating bill at least! saving us £60 a month...

Gotta check that heated blanket thing out.

"Heated throw" sounds way too much like Heathrow misspelled.

good saving, but for £30 you could just get a quilt for the couch and wont cost any extra..

I have a nice thick blanket, so lovely and warm. Only concern is the house and mould.

Good to hear as I've bought two for us and the kids but haven't used them yet. Currently our heating is off and we're managing with extra layers and blankets but it's starting to get very cold now.

I think ,with due respect , this is fairly obvious ? To be honest any quilt would do the job ? As the temperature is still 8C to 10C at night I would doubt if you need the extra heat for a snuggle ? Maybe when we get to sub zero temps ?

I don't think I could use a heated blanket to cover with on my imitation leather sofa. A risk I am not willing to take to save money.

Only problem I would have with this is that when I have to get off the couch. It will be so cold.

I'm almost certain the price of 6p an hour has been over estimated. It should be less than a quarter of that: on MAXIMUM setting (which is is 40 watt) and the MAXIMUM price for electricity @ 34p per kwh.

That means you should get 25hours for 34p. (just under 1 and a half pence an hour).

On the lowest setting (12 watt) and highest electricy cost it would be less than half a penny an hour.

A possible reason for the miscalculation is that other things using electricity were overlooked and the cost of that electricity was entered into the equation.

This makes these throws even better money saving items😀

I got the wattage details from this (scroll down to see them) it looks the same as that described BUT twice the price

If you are saving two quid a day by having the heating off you and the other half must be snuggled under that 24/7! 😋
