Here’s how you can effectively double your annual leave in 2020
In the UK, we are lucky to have an average of 25 days annual leave each year.
Singaporeans have seven days, Filipino’s have just five and, technically, Americans have zero – as it’s the discretion of the employer – but most US workers have around 10 days of annual leave each year.
With around five full weeks of leave, this means we have plenty of time to play with for holidays. But, by booking some strategic days off in 2020, you could effectively double 15 of your annual leave days to have 35 days off.

None of that works for me, and I imagine any retail job would be the same. We have to work a set number of bank holidays a year and we aren’t allowed any time off at all in December or January.
That's disgusting - not allowed any holidays in December/January. Surely that's discrimination? 
tumblespots it’s just because it’s the busiest time of year in retail, I’ve worked for two different retail brands and they both have the same rules, although our area manager was allowed time off in December 
perks of being high up in the management!
sarahgreen15 The perks are always best for those at the top. Perhaps I shouldn't be surprised that retailers force staff to work for the whole of December AND January (but I am really). They always come across as a bit more caring than that - telling us that staff volunteer! Bast***s
