6-Month Extension for MOTs Due on or after the 30/3/2020 Cars and Light Vans
In the News
The government has granted a 6-month extension for MOTs due on or after the 30 March 2020 for cars and light vans.
Guidance
Coronavirus: MOTs due from 30 March 2020
Your car, van or motorcycle’s MOT expiry date will be extended by 6 months if it’s due on or after 30 March 2020 - but you must keep your vehicle safe to drive.
Mine should have been renewed at the start of April but it was extended almost immediately. I have to admit it was a great relief but the only problem is keeping the brakes from seizing up and keeping the battery ticking over. (it's not classed essential as I'm working from home - although it is to me)
I can't believe that brakes aren't considered essential!! And the advice is to still keep the car roadworthy?! I'm no mechanic and with the electrical control systems on modern cars it's almost impossible to do repairs yourself nowadays anyway. I feel for you angemski
I think people should make the most of their extension but definitely ensure the vehicle is still in good condition for their own safety and other peoples thanks for sharing.
