What a terrible find
The experts are going to carbon date the remains to see when this happened , although they estimate sometime betwwen the romans and the 18th century
One theory is the remains are could be the bodies of criminals who were hanged on the gallows

I suspect it was the theory about the gallows victims M, they would have had their hands tied behind them
It seems to have been something happening over a long period , thats why i thought it might be an organised event, like public hangings
I suppose when they look at the bones closer they will be able to see if the necks were stretched or not
The last sentence was a little morbid -although it is fascinating what they can tell from skeletons
