80 Types of Houmous Urgently Recalled by Major Supermarkets
In the News
Major UK stores have put out an urgent recall for more than 80 varieties of houmous over fears they could contain the dangerous bacteria salmonella.
Salmonella can be particularly serious for young children, the elderly and those with low-immune systems.
The different varieties of houmous have all been produced by a company called Zorba Delicacies Limited and are on sale at a number of major stores including, Asda, Aldi, Lidl Morrisons and Sainsbury's.
Guilty! I don't always eat this type of thing straight away and have been known to eat them a bit past the date - if they smell ok.
Very glad that you didn't MrsCraig I believe you have enough to contend with without additional problems caused by dodgy food. Unfortunately you have to be so careful with processed foods these days.
tumblespots I was told by the health visitor houmous was good for helping him gain weight, so thought I will buy some and then thought I will wait till he is older. So glad I did. You really do, I was watching a programme the other day about how processed salad can have salmonella! I don't buy bags of salad but its scary to think that it could make you seriously ill.
