82nd Birthday Present
Ask a Question
Help, it’s my mums birthday next week and I want to get something special, I do not want to get the usual flowers and chocolates. Any ideas really appreciated but must be able to purchase online and get delivered as I’m self isolating.
Can’t you get a photobook made up with lots of personalised messages included? They usually can be made and delivered within days
My mum has never really had any hobbies, she enjoys walking and crosswords. We walk twice a day usually but as I’m self isolating this is on hold. The puzzles in the Saturday daily mail keep her occupied all week. Sorry if I’m sounding defensive but she has never had an interest in a hobby like crafting or gardening.
Or on the subject of photos how about a digital photo frame that you can load thousands of digital photos /videos on . Even found you a 20% off deal for a 10" one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Photo-Kenuo-1920x1080-Resolution/dp/B07TPS8FC9/ref=sr_1_11?crid=2IOF6HMED55A0&dchild=1&keywords=photo%2Bviewer&qid=1602912071&sprefix=photo%2Bviwer%2Caps%2C145&sr=8-11&th=1
You can put them on the mantlepiece and set them to change photo every few minutes , or play a video etc and add to the content ad infinitum . You can even get old black and white photos put on a memory stick or SD card .
Of course you can do the same thing on a tele but for the less tech savvy this is a nice stand alone .
Great idea but she will not like thIngs plugged in using electricity. It has taken us years to explain you don’t need to turn WiFi off when your not using it. Drove my brother round the bend.
If she doesn't have one already I suggest you get her a free standing bird table (and some bird seed) - Endlessly entertaining, birds.
Forgot to mention she does feed the birds, she buys the food for her bird feeding station, the birds throw it all over the ground then she has to sweep it up. In the meantime my brother keeps adding more to the feeders. It is costing her a fortune! Last Christmas I purchased the dried mealworms, she hated them.
My daughter ordered a beautiful birthday cake which was delivered on my birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed it and shared with local friends and family. Super surprise.
Nice idea but a whole cake would be too much. Unfortunately I can not get out or I would have got a couple of cream cakes.
