Should We Be Able to Vote Deals Down?

I think there should be some way , but its difficult to put into practise . We all know that some members continually post 3 non deals a day just for the points .

I post many deals , often high end golf deals , always excellent deals at the best prices available . While very useful to some I suspect they would be "unliked " by many , who quite understandably , think £250 for a golf club (even though 50% of RRP ) is not a deal .

You only give it a "heart" if you like the deal, otherwise, don't bother.

Users on HUKD get all freaked out and pissy when a deal of theirs goes cold. I'd say, try to avoid that unnecessary drama.

I personally like LD more for the chat section since HUKD's Misc is garbage now.

We encourage people to like the deals they like and to leave a constructive comment on the deals they think aren't great - e.g. "You can get it for less at Argos" or "It was half this price last week so may be worth holding out for another sale".

That way we hope it gives a bit more context to other members as to why the deal may be bad and also helps the original poster understand why their post isn't very popular.

Just because it isnt a deal to you or doesnt interest you doesn’t mean it’s not a deal to someone else. If you like the deal you already like it with a heart if you don’t you scroll past. Think it works how it is.

Don't see any benefit in voting deals down, as above everyone has different ideas and needs, so the fact that one person doesn't like a deal doesn't mean others won't, and on HUKD once a deal starts to go cold there is almost always a sheep mentality where others will vote it down also regardless. Do we really want to get into that on this site.

Yes because some of the deals are very poor

The other issue is you get points for liking deals so if you want the points you may leave false positives to poor deals. I've never done this myself I actually trawl through deals to find the deals I like but if you are just looking to work towards an amazon voucher it makes sense to post crap deals and vote up crap deals to save your own time.

Maybe if you had a system where to leave a negative you had to leave a comment might work. This would put people off being negative unless they felt the deal was particularly bad.

There are a huge amount of bad deals on this site sadly so you certainly have to be very careful. I know a fair bit about bicycles and seen some very poor deals for those.

It just seems whatever deals are on the first page are automatically voted on regardless of weather they are in fact any good. I do take into account that a good deal to someone else might not be good to me. Just wondered if it would work with a constructive comment.

I somewhat agree, we want good deals but what may be a bad deal to you could be a good deal to someone else. I shared a deal and someone commented saying the price was shocking (£4 for a baby blanket) however i had paid £10 for very similar size and style so thought it was good.
