If You Could Acquire Anything past or Present, What Would It Be?

Other

Would you like a Victorian dress, a 17th century coin, the newest ultra modern car?

I wish I could afford to collect historical artefacts. I have a couple of things in my office but would love to have a medieval sword hanging on the wall.

I have been tempted many times to buy replicas from various sites but for me only the real McCoy will do

A gas hob as I hate cooking with electric.

Unfortunately it's not possible where we live 😢

Why is it not possible? I used to have a gas hob and electric oven, village had no mains gas, we had LPG for heating etc.

In 2017 i was looking to buy a house in Wiltshire near my sister. In my ignorance I had no idea that many areas had no gas supply and I was aghast at the thought of having massive gas bottles delivered , I envisioned blowing myself or the house up!

I ended up staying put and have a gas hob and electric oven, best of both worlds in my opinion.

Lynibis Ours was a very large tank situated away from the house (Planning Permission was/is needed) and filled by tanker when it dropped to 25%, (they knew when) and supply into house like mains gas, no fiddly bottle to change.

lilyflower that sounds more like it. I must admit I wonder why the gas people have not got an ongoing plan to lay gas mains where there are none. Maybe they are thinking it will not be cost effective as we are running out of energy supplies.

lilyflower Yep, next door has LPG heating.

We've just had our central heating replaced by Nest Wales and LPG wasn't an option.

It would be impractical to use gas bottles ☹️

I would love to collect historical artifacts myself but would be too worried about breakage. Especially with kids about

Would like the original newspapers from Jack the ripper

I'd pop back to 1963 and buy an Aston Martin DB5 for £4,175.

A quick google tells me you are looking at close to a million if you want a decent one today.

Lol, looks like neither of us will get our weapons. Mind you he could look the part if he went through the stones, like in Outlander!

Lynibis 😂 my husband just prefers his character, but there is a rugid handsomeness to Sharpe, but I know one of the reasons Granny watches Outlander is for Jamie! And my husband does agree he is a very attractive man.

In a hypothetical world I would love to buy a time machine . I know they dont exist but I was asked what would I acquire and thats my answer. My other answer is the company who dreamt up the idea of Var and I would never ever let it see the light of day .

If I had a time machine I would be too scared to use it lol. I would be worried about not getting back, being burned as a witch, catching some dreadful disease or food poisoning.
