you are right nothing wrong at all with a choc filled window - I use to gallop home from school to open ours to beat my brother if we had missed the morning opening! 😀

I was saying to my hubby the other day how many different advent calendars there are and the prices are rediculess what ever happened to just open the window and eat the chocolate now there are wine, cheese make up candles the list is endless now if parents don't have enough to do and buy at Christmas then having the add stress of the kids wanting advent costing a fortune

OK rant over

They seem largely not worth it. If you get a good deal on the chocolate ones, they're still expensive for the amount of chocolate you get but cheap enough that it's fine for the novelty. I think the other types are too expensive though. Maybe best getting them in sale after Christmas for next year, if they're not things that will expire.

what a great idea I may have to stalk some and hope theyre around cheap after christmas. I agree the beauty ones ive had bought for me have made me sad that someone wasted money on them

I've decided not to buy my usual make-up/skincare one this year as I find the wastage annoying. I like the sound of your gin option though.

skin and beauty ones look so pretty i am always tempted but the amount of plastic just breaks my heart, gin may be the way forward- as long as long walking in straight lines is required! 🤣

Was thinking about a gin one - but actually quite happy with the basic chocolate one to be honest. It seems odd to think back to the years when I argued with my sisters about who got to open 24 - when all you got was a very poor picture in a slightly bigger box than the other numbers!

We have the chocolate or sweet ones every year and my wife likes a candle one. We have the ones that hang on the wall with little bags aswell and put some money, sweets etc in for the kids. My daughter also has a story one this year that had a little book to read everyday. Ive seen a few lately (gin, beer, make up, pringles) but they only have 12 doors.
