Alcohol & Lockdown
Ask a Question
Do you find yourself drinking more alcohol during lockdown, stayed the same, cutting down or non existent? How is your relationship with alcohol at the moment.
It's a period of abstinence many felt they needed in 2021 - the pandemic has led to people drinking more alcohol, according to research from Alcohol Change UK. The charity found that one in three of us believes we drank in excess last year compared with 2019.
I recently shared a Dine in for £10 and it was surprising just how many members commented that it was a 'no wine, no dine' for them. I definitely drank too much in the last twelve months and my waistline proves it so I've made changes to get back to pre 2020 shape. Alcohol + very little exercise = disaster!
Something I would say! love my rosé wine and prosecco. Best of luck to you, I hope you reach your goal.
I am more or less teetotal but because I am dieting and going without a lot of treats I am occasionally allowing myself an evening hot chocolate (the low calorie stuff) with a dash of baileys in it. Yummy.
That's great! It's not the norm to drink at home but I do think people are finding it the norm or making it normal because there's no where to go! I'm one of those. Kuddos to you!
boepeep I do think drinking at home is the norm for a lot of people anyway. It always has been for me as I'm not a pub goer.
I don't drink at all haven't for years my friend on the other hand is definitely drinking more phones me every night drunk lol
I've suddenly found the joy of drunken bargain buying , I've now more hats coats and gloves than I can ever wear in a month , I wouldn't mind but by being an old geezer I'm not supposed to go out anywhere ..
I've cut right down,..(I was terrible in my 20s )I just enjoy running since the first lockdown and have cut down on alcohol x
We drank more during first lockdown but normal now that might be due to bank balance than anything else. Will have to have a break for vacation though as my fella due his soon
I drank more throughout 2020, not obscene amounts but more than typical in that my drinking was bleeding into week nights & not just at weekends. Iv made a conscious effort since New Year to only allow myself 2-3 drinks once a week. I'm working out again & getting healthier / fitter in general due to a few health diagnoses Iv got in Jan. Which means less alcohol.
My alcohol consumption has been a lot less since the beginning of the first lockdown, as I normally do most of my drinking in pubs and restaurants. I haven't felt a need to drink more at home than I usually do to try to compensate
My alcohol consumption has remained more or less the same since before all this started. It is chocolate that I have started consuming more of. I have put my foot down and decided to begin dieting from tomorrow. Lose a few pounds.
RegularComper90 yeah chocolate has been my guilty pleasure. I don't drink at all. Kids+ homeschooling=CHOCOLATE
Doesn't help the amount of deals they are for chocolate now since Christmas is over! Lol best of luck to you
boepeep Thank you. Perhaps I will need to stay clear of the deals section for a little while.
Some people drink too much and when they start they can' stop as in this song
We don't drink every night and don't have many even when we do. We used to enjoy the pub meal with a drink, but, that's off the menu these days.
im not really a fan of alcohol so mines stayed the same but i can understand people turning to drink during these horrible times
