Amazon Gift Card Payment Help

Ask a Question

Hi. I have loaded gift cards to Amazon and I have a total balance. I’ve just been making an order and when I proceed to check out it’s asking for codes. Surely I’ve already loaded this to obtain my balance? I don’t have the emails/codes any more as I thought it would take automatically. I’m sure it did before. I haven’t used it in a while so can’t remember. I have the adequate funds but I tick use gift card balance for payment but can’t get past this code screen? Any help please?

You need to be buying things sold and fulfilled by Amazon for the gift card balance to come off. if it’s not coming off that may be why

emmabeckz Thank you. My balance is £28.79 and my basket is £27.16? It still asks for a code to redeem though? I thought I’d done all that to load the balance. 🤷🏻‍♀️

kitty88uk Sorry I meant messenger in Facebook. I tried live chat but just go round in circles without actually answering my problem and it’s too late for a phone call. Will have to see if anything happens tomorrow.

JLouM add a payment method as well then it will let you take the gift card balance without using the card you registered it’s in case of any subscribe and save items and reoccurring payments but will only charge the gift balance then after order has gone through you can remove your card details from the account if you want. that should work just add a payment method too. 🤞

I get this problem all the time. It's not really asking for codes because as you can see you have added the cards. But it thinks you don't have enough money to pay for the order so won't let you continue. I think this is because Amazon doesn't take of the delivery costs until you get past this page so with delivery costs you wouldn't have enough if that makes sense. It's supid and really annoying. What I do is take a item of pay for the order. Then pay for the item I've taken of separate. I can do this as I order items that are not just sold and delived by Amazon. Hope this helps abit.

KAW18 Thank you but if I do that it charges a lot for delivery of 1 item? Is there a way of taking it off? I have to reach £25 of goos to qualify for free delivery?

JLouM Have a look to see if there's a tick box for free standard delivery as sometimes it just defaults to pay for an item.

It’s really weird. I did what KAW18 said and it worked for 3 items but still charged £4.99 for delivery as it was under £25. As soon as I add another to get to £25 I can’t get past the page again. It says in red at top how much balance I have used and remains? They are all eligible Amazon products and it says I qualify- but ‘continue’ is greyed out again and I can’t select it? I can’t see any other delivery tick boxes either.

JLouM maybe one item isn’t shipped by Amazon to get the free delivery? When you go to your basket, if you don’t have prime, make sure you select free delivery for all items if not that option then it must not be sold by Amazon?

They are all Amazon items. It’s just not giving me free delivery even though I qualify? I keep getting £4.99 postage and pack even though I’m over eligible £25? It says to select option at checkout but I can’t so I’m in a loop. Don’t want to use bank as that’s the whole point of using gift cards! Can’t select delivery first so thinks I don’t have enough money when I have.

Yay!! Success at last thank you everyone. My husband worked it out with your help. Apparently I had to put in bank details which I didn’t really want to do but I do have a different account I can use. Only then could I deselect the delivery offer options because they want to flog me prime. I don’t use it enough for that. Only then could I get past the continue screen with my order placed. Now it took out the delivery charge! So finally my order went through. I found that really frustrating though how their website is set up. Should be able to tick delivery offer option BEFORE going to checkout in my opinion. I really struggled. My balance was all there! My issue is Amazon not Latest Deals. I love Latest Deals! 😊

I'm glad you got it sorted. It is stupid that it doesn't take of the delivery charge at the beginning. If I don't have much more on the gift card than what the total order is I just try and buy items not sold by Amazon and have free delivery.

KAW18 Ah ok I wasn’t sure that was the problem that it wasn’t directly from Amazon but if you manage it can’t be that. Thank you for your help though. Couldn’t have done it without your information.
