Animals on Furniture?

Ask a Question

What are your opinions on allowing animals on furniture such as sofas and beds?

Particularly dogs.

We have a throw over one sofa which is for the dogs to lie on but they sometimes creep up on to ours, and the cat is allowed to sleep wherever he wants.

I don’t mind having them on there as long as they are cleaned up after!

Our dog is allowed on both sofas and sleeps on our bed at night. We have a throw over the sofa too but everyone still gets covered in hairs.

Lol! I feel the fur situation, constantly sweeping and hoovering up! 😂

I would love to comment but I know all the animal lovers will come down on me like a ton of bricks......so I won't!

We allow the dogs on the furniture downstairs but avoid them going upstairs if possible. They are part of the family after all so it's important to treat them as so.

"Nearly one in five (18 per cent) of pet lovers also let their pooch or moggy eat from their family’s plates." Ohh no 🤢

I couldn’t imagine my dogs not being on the sofa 🤔 I also don’t understand how anyone can teach a cat not to go on furniture coz cats tend to do whatever they want 🤣

My dog and cats have all learnt where they can go in the house, i live in a bungalow and my bedroom is open all day and my pets know not to enter. They all know not to get on my leather sofa. They have lots of places they can go and they each find their favourite place to sleep.

Our house and most furniture was only a year when we got our 2 dogs. We were adamant they would not sit on the sofas. My husband still doesn't let them but I took all of a week before they broke me down with the big eyes begging look 😂 so now they will both get on one sofa but neither will get on the other. Cats on the other hand...sofas, window sills and mainly me!

My cats get bored where they go so are constantly moving about and sleeping in odd places. I often wake up to find one of my cats 'Conker' asleep right by my shoulders. My other cat at one point slept right next to my hifi amplifier on the shelf, it looked really uncomfortable. They do whatt they want pretty much. The only thing I hate is when they sleep on my stomach as I don't like the weight there so would push them off. If by chance I return to my bedroom during the day sometimes both of them are on the bed and I get angry looks from them disgusted that I have disturbed them. This sort of attitude of cats is what I love, its brings out their mad little characters, I hate to see pets that are subdued and frightened of their owners terrified they are going to do the wrong thing. Cats aren't ideal for control freaks.

Both mine are allowed on any furniture they like, it's their home as much as mine after all.

I do have throws etc to protect them though.

I quite like a cuddle on the sofa with a dog or cat, and if you get a blanket out there is no way a dog is going to say no.

I hate going to someone’s house and being covered in hair. My daughter and sister have allergies so I avoid people going to my friends houses who have pets. What you do in your own home is up to you.
