Anyone Else Shocked by the Random , Idiotic Panic Buying ?
Ask a Question
I did my panic buying a week ago , packs of beer , baked beans and a few bags of frozen chips .
Imagine my shock today when I went in the supermarket (for milk and bread and maybe another bag of frozen chips ) and half the shelves were wiped out ! All the frozen food aisles were cleaned out ! Has the country gone mad ?
There's no shortages (apart from a very few items ) -its just a supply and transport issue as I'm sure most intelligent folks must know ?
There is no shortage of frozen food ,toilet rolls , tinned veg etc its just that it has to be shifted from the main warehouses to the shops (that have limited storage ) and there are only so many lorries and drivers to do it !
Hope those who have maxed out their credit cards panic buying realise how silly they have been (paying 30% interest on their stupidity ) as stocks will return to normal over the next week or two .
Meanwhile have any of these panic buying idiots thought about the pensioners and other vulnerable folk who draw their meagre money to do their weekly shop and find nothing in the supermarket aisles ?
I gain little comfort from the certain knowledge that many of these "selfish panic buyers " will be fearfully perusing their credit card statements in a few weeks , looking at their bulging cupboards and freezers - while the rest of us are doing our normal shop in well stocked supermarkets .
