Can Anyone Recommend Anything for Childrens Eczema?
Ask a Question
My three year old has really bad eczema and has batches of dry skin everywhere. Does anyone have any recommendations for something to soothe this? I’ve tried Aveeno, Sudocreme, Oilatum and Betnovate but nothing seems to work!
Lots of people seem to recommend Childs Farm and it is a pure product so worth trying. I use it as a facial moisturiser.
Child’s farm works well for most skin conditions, and it’s not expensive. Definitely worth a try. I’d say try e45 but I have never had luck with it myself, as it actually made my contact dermatitis worse
So I have eczema myself and my niece had it all over her body. The only remedy that actually worked for us was using any moisturising cream/ using a strong emollients consistently and all the time. So i and her would wake up put cream on, she would shower with moisturising cream, reapply after showering, at bed time I would wrap my elbows(where i have eczema) with lots of cream and a bandage just so the cream wouldn’t touch the bed. She did this for 1 year and now she is eczema free but she still is very careful.
Mine is back mainly because its getting colder! The creams we used:
Aqueous cream (i think its now sold my a brand called zero)
E45
One beginning with U (sorry cant recall the name but vut the doctor would know)it was very moisturising but I dont think its sold over the counter so probs needs a doctor to write it.
I personally think the key is consistently and it can take time to improve. My niece was fully eczema free after 1 year (she was around 15/16) but we also had to look at her diet as well. I get eczema every winter but once I consistently put any emollient on (like everyday for a month) and then keep doing it I’d be good till next Spring/Summer.
Aveeno is fantastic,my daughter had really bad eczema when she was little,in the end we kept a food diary,...dairy,food colourings&wheat made her itch.
You can also make an oat bath yourself, handful of oats(put in tights) add to bath water, very healing to the skin, hope this helps,I know how uncomfortable it is for little ones x
I always used Diprobase emollient on skin & also Diprobase liquid in my daughters bath. It worked really well
I was recommended Diprobase Eczema Cream by the pharmacist in my local Boots. It's steroid-free, and suitable for all ages.
My niece gets it pretty bad the usual creams don't seem to work for her seems to get worse if she gets anything with sugar.
Would definitely try Childs farm cream it works great and use all their bath stuff etc to keep it at bay x
Started with it on my legs at age 54! Raw often infected etc ....child's farm oaty bubbles to wash in dermol cream or if need a richer one cetraben
