Did Anyone Use Training Pants When Potty Training?
Ask a Question
So my son has a few issues and because of these isn't potty trained yet. We have tried before but didn't work. I'm thinking about trying again and wondered if anyone used the training pants when potty training. Huggies have ones with Lightning McQueen on, who he is obsessed with and I wondered if this might help with the potty training. They are expensive, so thought I would ask if anyone found them helpful before I give them a go.
We haven't found them much help. My daughter is 3 and has refused to potty train for the last year and a half. She is due to start school in September, so we decided this time we weren't giving up.
When we used the training pants, she just treated it like a nappy, so eventually, we just put her in pants with the potty in the front room. We've had a few accidents and it's taken about two weeks but she is doing well now.
Midnightflower my son is 4 but has a number of issues, including developmental delays, so he is more like 3. That's what I'm worried about, that he will just treat it like a nappy.
MrsCraig maybe its worth ordering a free sample of drynites to use in the day just to see how he gets on. I'm pretty sure they come with characters on but I'm not sure which. But at least then you wouldn't end up wasting money if he doesn't want to.
We didn’t need to use them in the end. I wasn’t sure my daughter was ready but her preschool thought she was and they did a great job of encouraging her to use the toilet.
At home we had a toy potty which sang songs and made noises (it was passed down to us, it’s not something we would have bought!) but our daughter liked it.
She surprised us by cracking potty training in a week after a few accidents. I’d already bought the training pants but ended up giving them away.
We did buy her some proper knickers with her favourite characters on and that encouraged her to want to wear them.
snoogans888 I don't think he is ready, he is being deferred so not a massive rush to get it sorted before he goes to school. But I thought I might try again. We have a potty and trainer seats. I was thinking I would buy him pants with Lightning Mcqueen on as he loves him and I am hoping that will encourage him a bit more.
My sons nursery haven't said anything about whether they think he is ready but he has so many other things going on that thye won't be focusing on it.
