A Baby Named lucifer...

In the News

It’s not a name I’d personally choose, so good luck to him and his parents

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8546955/Parents-win-battle-son-LUCIFER-registrar-tried-ban-it.html

not surprised that the registrar tried to ban it, but the parents didn’t like being advised that the boy ‘wouldn’t succeed in life’

It's like all the crazies that name their children after Game of Thrones or any tv show for that matter. Usain Bolt's kid too...

Lol yes I read about that. But in all honesty, I didn’t think Bolt was going to give his child a normal name

We had an absolute deluge of parents calling their boys Maximus after the release of Gladiator starring Russell Crowe. Some just left it at Max, which the others would probably be called anyway.

Why on earth someone would give their child, that sort of name...

I can't understand...

Me neither. I get that they’re not religious and wanted a unique name, but there are so many unique names, choosing this one has a lot of limitations

He could always become a YouTube 'sensation' or star in a reality TV program. On a positive note other kids may think twice about bullying him. But, if it's problem, he could change his name when he turns 18. It's a bit like Only Fools and Horses when Del and Raquel name their son Damien. Which was an acceptable name before The Omen was released 👹 ... Regarding the article, I think anyone called Awesome is more likely to have a positive outlook on life 😉

I fear for the kids safety with that many religious nut jobs out there who will actually think he is Lucifer and try to harm him

My cousins have a cat called Lucifer 🤦🏻‍♀️ but I feel naming a child that is asking for them to be bullied their whole life... I thought there were some names the registry office could refuse 🤔 think that should maybe be one of them!

Also being a boy's name would probably get called Lucy. I just can't understand anyone who would do this to a child, may as well call him Devil and be done with it.

I did once have to register a child with the middle names of Beetlestone Mortis, but at least the first name was ok.

In my career as a registrar I had a young couple who wanted to name their baby Lucifer Maelstrom Damian. I also advised against it and when mum was told what Lucifer meant she was incensed with the father, asking him where he got it. 'From a comic' he replied with a shrug and deadpan look.

They were only 17 and 18 but decided of their own volition to just stick with Damian.

You wouldn't believe some of the names we were asked to record, like the mum of twins who called them Dolce and Gabbana!

Lol I actually quite like the name Damien, even with its omen connotations. I don’t think a lot of people have seen it

Poor kids parents should think about the kids going school and getting picked on for the names

I was thinking more along the lines of limitations- what if he wants to become a priest? Or falls in love with a girl whose religion is important to her? They could’ve just named him Morningstar if they liked the meaning
