Ban Snacking??!
In the News
Just seen an article which I personally think is ridiculous.. ”ban snacking on public transport to combat childhood obesity“... so many people eat during their travelling, when they are commuting to work and that’s their only time free to eat, but because some children are overweight, everyone should be banned?? insane...
what are your thoughts??
I think the issue is what children are eating, how much they exercise and their understanding of healthy food.
Parents are in charge of what children eat the majority of the time. My son had major issues gaining weight due to his heart condition and now he has had his surgery he is gaining loads of weight. I make sure that he has a variety of different foods. I'm in charge of what he eats and whilst it might be easy to give children junk food because they are refusing the other food offered, you have to persevere and they will eventually eat it.
Banning snacking on public transport would change children being obese. It is about educating children on healthy food.
I was brought up in a time when it was not considered good manners to eat in the street on a bus etc and I must admit that even now I hate seeing people walking along munching on shop bought sarnies, burgers and swigging from cans. The absolute worse is drinking from beer cans in the street.
However, I do appreciate that times change and rarely do we go back. I don't think it should be banned but it would be nice if we could encourage folk to snack less for the sake of their health, after all, no one will starve to death for want of a snack. It could never be enforced anyway.
I kind of agree. No one likes to smell chicken burgers, fish or whatever while traveling.
They banned smoking from most places and it has worked.
I wouldn't ban it all together i would just encourage and educate people on the foods they are snacking on and give them better and healthier options to choose from.
You just said some people have no time to eat...just when they commute.
I do not think this cause child obesity, because those kids go somewhere and do something, that is why they eat there. Also kids snack a lot and they get hungry a lot of the times...there is no problem with any snack still they run around...they not going to be obese.
I think it is something to do with being active and than get passive in exercise, same with kids...when they go to school and need to sit there whole day....instead of the toddler craze...
Being too thin is bad and being too fat is also bad, finding middle ground between the two (have healthy/normal body) is the solution.
Eating less fast food each and every single day helps out a lot and contributes to a better health system.
"Obesity" has certainly become somewhat of a vague term these days and most think that only being too fat is the problem. The skeleton-like models have obvious health issues too.
Rockman I have a friend she can eat anything she is extremely thin....anyone would expect her to be fat if we just see what is she eating.
It is not just something to do with eating but our genetics. Also we have now the technology and medicine to correct it, but for some reason it is not available...
I think we just make people suffer by categorize them. It is same like the race groups, size groups. Lets be honest in the worst case it is a psychological issue...people eat when they sad.
I don't think this would work to be honest, but I do think putting it in plain packaging might
