Do You Believe in Love at First Sight?
Ask a Question
I have to say I do. When I met my second husband, we talked solidly for about 19 hours, then he went home and was back on my doorstep 5 hours later to take me out for the day. He never left. After 5 days he asked me to marry him. With the exceptions of my parents, children and ex husband , everyone said it wouldn't last and here we are 20 years later and he is still my soulmate.
But is that love at first sight? Did you love him the second you saw him? It was after you got to know him a bit. I'm being pedantic I know, but still.
Sounds like an intense start to the relationship - glad it worked out.
Lol, fair comment MeestairChrees perhaps I should have worded that better. I just think it doesn't always take long to know when it's 'the right one' or perhaps I was just lucky
Janhrrs I think a bit of both. You definitely got lucky, but yes, there are people you can instantly click with. Sometimes that changes after a while (friendships too).
I don't think love at first sight really exists. I think you can lust after someone, and then happen to get to know them, and like then and eventually love them. But I think it's coincidence.
I don't believe in love at first sight because you don't just fall in love with someone you have just met. you get to know the person first and see if you are compatible with him/her before you can even say you love the person.
Maybe a better question would have been how long do you think it takes to fall in love? It's interesting to see people's different opinions though.
Wow, that’s a crazy story!
I believe in love at first sight when it comes to dogs..... I‘ve definitely met dogs, looked them in the eye and fallen in love with them instantly....
Lol sarahgreen15 definitely. Animals, especially dogs just have that way of looking at you that says take me home with you we have 2 dogs and 2 cats
Janhrrs I’ve just got two dogs but the number of dogs I am in love with is concerning Ive often said my dogs have more dog friends than i have people friends... what I really mean is I have dog friends
I don't think so. I don't have experience as I got to know my other half over the internet for weeks before we met up so the first time I saw him I already knew quite a lot about him but I think to love someone you have to know pretty much everything about them and that's not possible from a first look.
My friends and I have this discussion frequently (normally after some good looking guy has walked past). If you take it literally, 'love' and 'sight', that suggests that you fall in love with someone's looks as you can't see personality per se but you can see their physical appearance, that's my argument against it anyway, but only because it normally stops the conversation dead . I'm with sarahgreen15 I will fall instantly in love with animals, with humans it normally takes slightly longer, generally a millennia and that's just the liking them stage
