Best Childhood Memory
Ask a Question
What is your best childhood memory?... mine was when I was about 10. I never really used to get toys for xmas etc. It was more like things I need - clothes etc... so that time before xmas I was desperate for a barbie doll. I remember pestering my dad for it while he watched TV....so he left and came back with one ... I was so excited!!! I asked him if he met Santa on his way...
Mine is also a Christmas toy related memory.
I was desperate for a Scalextric set, I used to turn up the TV adverts, and left the Argos Catalogue open conveniently on the Scalextric page.
Mum and Dad told me the sets were too expensive, so I shouldn't get my hopes up.
Then on Christmas Morning they'd only gone and got me one!
I think I played it most of the day, only stopping when the dog ran off with a car if it came off at a corner.
blacklabrador I bet you treasured it for a long time....any chance you still got it?
I have too many incredible childhood memories to pick one. My home life as a child was filled with joy and love. My brothers and my mum gave me their full attention and every day was magical
Moonstone22 you were lucky then. Mine wasnt... and usually my dad treated me and my brother like we were servants without voice... other times I asked if I'll get anything for xmas I was told to bring my grade book and unless it was all 10's I won't be getting nothing...
Spending weekends at my grans. She often invited her friends over for afternoon tea on a Saturday & I would help her make & lay out sandwiches & cakes . I felt like such a grown up sipping my tea listening to the adults chat....& scoffing her delicious homemade cakes of course. I really idolized my gran & have such fond memories of the short times I spent with her.
Spending time with my grandad on the forest pickings mushrooms, it is funny how it stays in your memory
GSM oh we used to pick berries in summer and mushrooms come autumn. I did like it. Only once while berry picking a vasp stung me on the eyelid...my eyelid swell up and I couldn't see for a week!!!as for mushrooms I enjoyed picking it but then the good sturdy ones would be dried up to keep for winter and soft sloppy ones would be for dinner with potatoes...I felt like I was eating slimy slugs!!!
Mick82 totally my family for some time were growing potatoes in huge allotment. For me as a kid that part wasnt much of fun.. out in a field all day bending down, picking up potatoes in baskets, then pouring into bags...it was exhausting...but eating potatoes cooked in ash was the better part of it
MaryBroadb16135 that sounds idyllic...its funny how far sometimes we remember from childhood...
Playing outside with my friends. Well, who knows where they are now.
Kids nowadays can't do that with kidnappers and such.
PhilipMarc exactly... I wouldn't let my son to play outside my house or even to walk few min to the shop.. too many kids get abducted, abused etc. Which is sad really. But I watch over my kids like a hawk. I start to panic a little in big crowds. It's sad that they got less freedom but it's either that or risk not having a kid anymore...
