Best Place to Get Good Quality Towels at a Reasonable Price
Ask a Question
So I’ve visited all the usual retailers - Wilko, Argos, Ikea, M&S, John Lewis, Asda, Sainsburys, Primark, TK Maxx, Matalan...and prices for an extra large bath sheet is around £5.50-15, but most of the ones on the cheaper end just feel nasty, whereas the more expensive do feel good at the initial touch, but that may change after a wash
Where do you recommend getting bath towels/sheets? Is it possible to get them cheap AND of good quality?
Hi hspexy they got bath sheets and hand towles on here it's in the flash deals. I am going to get some. They don't look to bad. Hope it helped you.
Thanks nicolajaynehend (not sure what happened, as I wrote a 3-4 sentence response and it disappeared??) Anyway, I wrote that I’ve been looking on amazon and though most look good, it’s the several negative reviews that put me off. Towels are just one of those things I prefer to touch before I uy, as I don’t want the hassle of a return. Thanks for the suggestion though
hspexy you very welcome hope you get your towles. I find buying towles hard to get. Some are rough not big enough. Size dont mach size of the towle. Its a night mare. The towles that are any good and ticks all the boxes. Are way to dear for my budget .
Studio do fab towels 2 huge thickthick bath sheets that's fluffy and keep their colour for 5.99 x I've bought 5 packs .have a look @hpsexy xx
Thanks for the recommendation jojowane67 I had a look and they do seem good, but I’ve never used them before. But they seem trustworthy enough thanks
Mine are all matalan. They do 2 kinds, expensive and less expensive, go for the costlier ones, they wash brilliantly and tumble dry a dream.
thanks for the suggestion. I also did like the designs they had instore, and they felt good. I’ll check them out, thanks
The best guide to luxury, I think, is the weight in gsm of the cotton.
400-600 gsm is a medium weight, great for beach towels and bath towels
That said for every extra 100gsm, your towel will get heavier and more absorbent, and feel more luxurious.
600-900 gsm is a premium, luxury weight. For a bit of luxury at home I'd aim for around 700gsm.
Choose Egyptian cotton if you can. It's more expensive, but Egyptian cotton towels have much longer threads, which means each towel has more moisture absorbing loops per inch. The number and the length of loops is important - the denser the loops, the more absorbent the towel.
Buy the best you can afford, and try to get them half price or better in a sale or clearance.
Thanks for the advice. I’ve noticed everywhere sells Egyptian towels these days, but I’ve felt some awful ones, so I’m wary of their descriptions, especially online. Will try to hunt down some bargain towels in town later today. Thanks
It depends...even TK MAXX has a lot of different brands and some are really good and also they go on sale so u can get them cheap.
Yes I’ve noticed they’ve got designerbranded ones too, which I never really looked at previously. My cousin stockpiled a load of CK towels out in TJ Maxx in the US, as they were pretty cheap - they have a bigger selection out there
hspexy Sometimes they go to final clearance online and I got Hugo Boss ones very cheap.
I’ve got some primark bath sheets and they’ve been washed hundreds of times over the years. They were their luxury thicker ones which compared well against JL and m&s. I’m a bit of a snob and admit I cut the labels off!
Lol that’s fair enough. John Lewis and M&S are well known for their quality, whereas Primark not so much, but I do think they've got decent homeware stuff, much better than before
