Best Place to Stop for Changeover from UK to Australia?

Hi there, my friend is travelling to Australia and they are looking at the different options for flying over. I have heard of people stopping in Singapore but would be great to hear advice from people who have made the trip on where they have stopped?
I usually fly with Emirates via Dubai, though I have never actually stopped over, just in transit. Always found Emirates a great airline to use on such long flights as Oz and NZ. Family members usually use Emirates or Singapore Airlines too, in transit not stopping over. Singapore airport is amazing, they have waterfalls, butterflies, a swimming pool (that you can use if you time your transit times right!), a rainforest, gardens and all sorts of wonderful things for an airport! Google it and look at some of the videos, it's pretty cool!
We stopped in Hong Kong but I would suggest that at the moment with the protesters taking over the airport.
I stopped over in Singapore. Absolutely loved that place. We stayed next door to Raffles. Great people and atmos.
I flew from Heathrow to Sydney via Singapore with british airways. Was a very quick stop! Got off went toilet and was already being called to get back onto the plane. Didnt have a long stop to be able to explore the airport but I’ve heard nice things about it.
